Towards a Driver Monitoring System for Estimating Driver Situational Awareness
2019 28th IEEE International Conference on Robot and Human Interactive Communication (RO-MAN), 2019Autonomous vehicle technology is rapidly developing but the current state-of-the-art still has limitations and requires frequent human intervention. However, handovers from an autonomous vehicle to a human driver are challenging because a human operator may be unaware of the vehicle surroundings during a handover which can lead to dangerous driving ...

Driver impairment monitoring system

An Effective Driver Fatigue Monitoring System
2010 International Conference on Machine Vision and Human-machine Interface, 2010This paper proposes an effective driver fatigue monitoring system. A Haar-like based cascaded AdaBoost classifier is trained for eye region localization from the input drive face video; and then lattice degree of nearness based on Fourier descriptor is utilized for eye states identification; finally, PERCLOS is calculated for fatigue detection.

A novel method to monitor driver's distractions
CHI '10 Extended Abstracts on Human Factors in Computing Systems, 2010Many attempts were made in the past to monitor a driver's visual and cognitive distractions. Yet, most of the techniques did not become a practical application due to their contact-based nature of monitoring. In this paper, we describe research that aims to monitor the driver's distractions from a distance.

Driver Monitoring in the Context of Autonomous Vehicle
2015Today research is going on within different essential functions need to bring automatic vehicles to the roads. However, there will be manual driven vehicles for many years before it is fully automated vehicles on roads. In complex situations, automated vehicles will need human assistance for long time. So, for road safety driver monitoring is even more

Driver monitoring algorithm for advanced driver assistance systems
2016 24th Telecommunications Forum (TELFOR), 2016Fast expansion of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) market and applications has resulted in a high demand for various accompanying algorithms. In this paper we present an implementation of Driver monitoring algorithm. Main goal of the algorithm is to automatically asses if driver is tired and in that case, raise a proper alert.

Fatigue Monitoring for Drivers in Advanced Driver-Assistance System
2020The detection of person fatigue is one of the important tasks to detect drowsiness in the domain of image processing. Though lots of work has been carried out in this regard, there is a void of work shows the exact correctness. In this chapter, the main objective is to present an efficient approach that is a combination of both eye state detection and ...

Monitoring Driver's Authority: Simulator Study
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2012Abstract In this paper, a multimodal adaptive driver assistance system is studied on a simulator setup. The main goal is to determine human driver's attention and authority level in a cognitive model and to trigger timely warnings according to his/her driving intents and driving skills with respect to the possible driving situation and hazard ...
