Real and Apparent Deviations From Rational Choice

open access: yesKyklos, Volume 79, Issue 4, Page 1153-1178, November 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper offers a taxonomy of real and apparent deviations from rationality. The taxonomy is based on three axes of divides—whereas the axes are successive refinements. On the importance of including both sexes in animal studies – insights from home‐cage monitoring

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 5, Page 2408-2426, October 2026.
ABSTRACT A review of behavioural studies using home‐cage monitoring (HCM) systems revealed that over 61% of studies used only male subjects, with only 24% including both sexes, despite evidence of substantial behavioural differences between male and female animals. This bias could influence the outcomes of biomedical research.

The Biological Roles of Class II Hydrophobins at the Cell Wall of Filamentous Ascomycetes

open access: yesJournal of Basic Microbiology, Volume 66, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT One of the most elusive aspects of fungal cell wall biology has been dilucidating the specific functions of most cell wall proteins. Class II hydrophobins are small amphipathic proteins produced exclusively by filamentous ascomycetes. A comparative synthesis of their biological functions across species has been lacking for this specific group ...
