Speed perception and actual speed in a driving simulator and real-world: A validation study
Transportation Research Part F: Traffic Psychology and Behaviour, 2019Background Driving simulators have become an effective research tool in traffic safety, but the validity of results obtained in simulated environments remains a debated issue of high importance.

Simulator sickness during driving simulation studies
Accident Analysis and Prevention, 2010While driving simulators are a valuable tool for assessing multiple dimensions of driving performance under relatively safe conditions, researchers and practitioners must be prepared for participants that suffer from simulator sickness. This paper describes multiple theories of motion sickness and presents a method for assessing and reacting to ...

MARS: An Instance-aware, Modular and Realistic Simulator for Autonomous Driving
CAAI International Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2023Nowadays, autonomous cars can drive smoothly in ordinary cases, and it is widely recognized that realistic sensor simulation will play a critical role in solving remaining corner cases by simulating them.

Comparison of Real and Simulated Driving for a Static Driving Simulator
AHFE International, 2021A traffic light assistant on a smartphone is used in real and simulated driving in an experiment. The speeding behavior of the test subjects is assessed as metric of travelled distance with more than 5 km/h above the speed limit, subjective scores by NASA-RTLX, general fuel reduction and comparison of occurring accelerations.

Yet Another Driving Simulator OpenROUTS3D: The Driving Simulator for Teleoperated Driving
2019 IEEE International Conference on Connected Vehicles and Expo (ICCVE), 2019Numerous issues on the way to autonomous vehicles have already been solved. Nevertheless, there are further problems preventing the introduction of autonomous driving features of higher SAE levels. Remote control of vehicles by human operators located in dedicated operation centers, Teleoperated Driving, can help to overcome the problems of autonomous ...

The impact of the connected environment on driving behavior and safety: A driving simulator study.
Accident Analysis and Prevention, 2020The connected environment provides surrounding traffic information to drivers via different driving aids that are expected to improve driving behavior and assist in avoiding safety-critical events. These driving aids include speed advisory, car-following
