Manual control analysis of drug effects on driving performance [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
The effects of secobarbital, diazepam, alcohol, and marihuana on car-driver transfer functions obtained using a driving simulator were studied. The first three substances, all CNS depressants, reduced gain, crossover frequency, and coherence which ...

Could Intelligent Speed Adaptation make overtaking unsafe?

open access: yes, 2012
This driving simulator study investigated how mandatory and voluntary ISA might affect a driver's overtaking decisions on rural roads, by presenting drivers with a variety of overtaking scenarios designed to evaluate both the frequency and safety of the ...

Safety implications of a pedestrian protection system - the driver's point of view [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Pedestrians can sustain fatal injuries, even in low-speed collisions. Active pedestrian protection systems, such as an Active Bonnet, have been shown to mitigate the outcome of a collision.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

The contribution of closed loop tracking control of motion platform on laterally induced postural instability of the drivers at SAAM dynamic simulator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper explains the effect of a motion platform closed loop control comparing to the static condition for driving simulators on postural instability.

Issues arising from the HASTE experiments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
[FIRST PARAGRAPH] The HASTE project work discussed in the foregoing papers can be depicted as being aimed at answering two questions: “Does greater secondary task load from an In-Vehicle Information System (IVIS) lead to an identifiably worse ...

Predicting Epileptogenic Tubers in Patients With Tuberous Sclerosis Complex Using a Fusion Model Integrating Lesion Network Mapping and Machine Learning

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Accurate localization of epileptogenic tubers (ETs) in patients with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is essential but challenging, as these tubers lack distinct pathological or genetic markers to differentiate them from other cortical tubers.

Driving behavior studies based on driving simulator experiments

open access: yes, 2017
Driving behavior has been identified as a major contributing factor to critical accidents and road crashes. In Hong Kong, most road crashes (78.58%) involving traffic casualties are considered to be the drivers’ fault. A driving simulator approach was thus used to investigate driver behavior in distracted driving scenarios and scenarios involving ...

Real‐World Performance of CSF Kappa Free Light Chains in the 2024 McDonald Criteria

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Kappa free light chains (KFLCs) in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) have a similar performance to CSF‐restricted oligoclonal bands (OCB) for multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis. To help with implementation, we set out to resolve several remaining uncertainties: (1) performance in a real‐world cohort and the 2024 McDonald criteria; (2 ...

Validity of Mental Workload Measures in a Driving Simulation Environment

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Transportation, 2018
Automated in-vehicle systems and related human-machine interfaces can contribute to alleviating the workload of drivers. However, each new functionality can also introduce a new source of workload, due to the need to attend to new tasks and thus requires
