Improved inertial stick-slip movement performance via driving waveform optimization

Precision Engineering, 2019
Abstract The piezoelectrically-actuated inertial stick-slip device (PAISSD) is widely used in the field of nanotechnology because of its high resolution and theoretically unlimited displacement. However, it suffers from such problems as a small driving force and low velocity.

An adaptive generation method for electrophoretic display driving waveform design

Journal of the Society for Information Display, 2016
AbstractElectrophoretic display (EPD) technology is attractive when used for reading devices such as e‐paper because of its paper‐like appearance. EPD driving is more complex than other display technologies such as liquid crystal display or organic light emission diode because the driving result of a pixel strongly depends on the initial display state.

Breaking the Dead Zone Limitation of Pmuts Based on a Phase Shift of Driving Waveform with Window Function

IEEE/LEOS International Conference on Optical MEMS, 2023
In this work, we demonstrate a simple and effective method for reducing the membrane ring-down time and suppressing the output interferences caused by nonlinearity to benefit axial resolution for piezoelectric micromachined ultrasonic transducers (PMUTs).

Study on driving waveform design process for multi-nozzle piezoelectric printhead in material-jetting 3D printing

, 2021
Purpose Material-jetting (MJ) three-dimensional (3D) printing processes are competitive due to their printing resolution and printing speed. Driving waveform design of piezoelectric printhead in MJ would affect droplet formation and performance, but ...

Josephson Arbitrary Waveform System with Optoelectronic Drive

2017 16th International Superconductive Electronics Conference (ISEC), 2017
Quantum-accurate arbitrary voltage waveforms have been generated using electrical pulse driven Josephson junction arrays (JJAs) by several groups [1, 2]. An alternative method is to use optoelectronic components to convert the electrical pulse drive into an optical signal which is subsequently converted by a photodiode into an electrical drive signal ...

Driving Waveform Dependency of Energy Dissipation of Trapped Particles

Latin America Optics and Photonics (LAOP) Conference 2022, 2022
Here, we present a numerical simulation of the trapping of particles in a Paul trap to analyse the impact of exotic driving waveforms to disclose the trapping dynamic and maximize the energy dissipation for applied additional cooling techniques.

Specialized drive waveforms for the parametric acoustic source

OCEANS '77 Conference Record, 1977
In addition to its narrow beamwidth and wideband capability, the underwater parametric acoustic source has the advantage of maintaining a relatively constant beamwidth over a wide range of difference frequencies. However, for some applications the beamwidth of the difference frequency is narrower than desired or adjustable beamwidth is required.

20.2: Drive Waveforms for Active Matrix Electrophoretic Displays

SID Symposium Digest of Technical Papers, 2003
Abstract Microencapsulated electrophoretic (MEP) displays are promising candidates for smart handheld applications, where ease of reading and ultra‐low power consumption are of primary importance. A thorough study of the electro‐optic response characteristics of MEP systems has led to the development of a variety of novel drive ...

Analysis of distorted unbalanced waveforms in inverter drives

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 1989
A new method is proposed for the analysis of waveforms in a three-phase system when both distortion and unbalance are present. The method makes it possible to obtain the positive and negative-sequence components of each harmonic system present in the three phases.
