Impact of Intermediate Wheatgrass as an Adjunct Ingredient on the Chemical Composition and Development of Aroma Compounds in Sake Brewing

open access: yesCereal Chemistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Replacing a portion of polished rice with intermediate wheatgrass (IWG) could diversify raw materials for sake, but its effects on composition and fermentation outcomes are not well characterized. The objective of this study was to quantify how adjunct form (whole vs.

Characterizing Low Falling Number in the Absence of Elevated Alpha‐Amylase Activity in Soft White Wheat and the Impact on Japanese Sponge Cakes

open access: yesCereal Chemistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Non‐alpha‐amylase induced low falling number was identified in 2024 soft white wheat. The objectives of this work were to characterize these low falling number samples and determine the impact on end‐product quality. The results were analyzed to determine differences in flour characteristics that might result in a low

Enabling Cross‐Coupling Reactivity of α‐Pentafluorosulfanyl Compounds with a Thermally Stable Organozinc α‐SF5 Reagent

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
This work describes the first example of a thermally stable α‐SF5 organometallic reagent, which allows for extensive downstream functionalization by allylation and acylation reactions under copper catalysis, as well as palladium‐catalyzed Negishi‐type cross‐coupling conditions up to 96% yield. In silico analysis shines initial light on the requirements

Measurement of pressure wave speed in stainless-steel pipe generated by water hammer

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
This paper aims to demonstrate a measurement method of pressure wave speed in stainless-steel pipe filled with water caused by water hammer phenomenon. The pressure wave is generated using a self-developed drop impact testing equipment.

The Influence of Drosophila Spire and Myosin V During Mid‐Oogenesis Is Independent of Their Direct Interaction

open access: yesCytoskeleton, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cooperativity between cytoskeletal proteins is crucial for spatiotemporal coordination in biological processes, like oogenesis. In mammalian and Drosophila oogenesis, proper assembly and function of actin networks require coordination between actin assembly factors Spire and formins, as well as actin‐associated proteins like myosins and Rab ...

Acoustic‐driven surface cleaning with millimeter‐sized bubbles at translational resonance

open access: yesDroplet, EarlyView.
Time‐lapse visualization comparing bubble trajectories. The top panel (0 Hz) shows a bubble's linear path under no acoustic forcing, while the bottom panel (50 Hz) demonstrates the oscillatory motion induced by acoustic waves at a resonance mode. This mechanism holds promising potential for applications such as surface cleaning.
