Rain drop size distribution over the Tibetan Plateau

Atmospheric Research, 2014
Abstract Over the last decade, interest in measuring and studying rain drop size distribution (DSD) has grown due to applications in cloud physics, in calibration of space-borne and ground-based microwave active precipitation sensors and in soil science and agriculture.

Three-Phases Separator Sizing Using Drop Size Distribution

Proceedings of Offshore Technology Conference, 2010
Abstract A three-phase separator in the oil and gas industry integrates two separate parts: a gas-liquid section and an oil-water section. The gas-liquid separation section is determined by the maximum removal droplet size using the Sauders-Brown equation with an appropriate K factor.

MEASUREMENTS OF CLOUD DROP-SIZE DISTRIBUTIONS

Journal of Meteorology, 1957
Abstract Through the analysis of infrared transmittance of a natural cloud, its drop-size distribution can be inferred. This technique has been used to measure and analyze ten cloud situations on Mount Washington. These clouds show drop-size distributions that are bimodal in character.

Drop‐size distribution in cloud and fog

Quarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, 1951
AbstractExperimental data relating to drop‐size distribution in cloud and fog are examined and it is shown that in many cases the size distribution can be represented by the formula where F is the fraction of liquid water in the air comprised by drops with diameter less than x. The constant a increases with the liquid water content of the cloud.

Multimodality in the Rainfall Drop Size Distribution in Southern England

2015
Mutimodality appears in the modelling of rainfall drop size distributions (DSDs), and the understanding of the distribution in general is important as it helps in the predicting and mitigation of attenuation due to rain of satellite signals in frequencies above 10 GHz.

The Correlation of Drop-Size Distributions in Fuel Nozzle Sprays—Part I: The Drop-Size/Volume-Fraction Distribution

Journal of Engineering for Power, 1977
The paper presents data on the drop-size/volume-fraction distributions of sprays observed with a large number of gas-turbine fuel nozzles of different types including both pressure and air-atomizers, using a range of fuel viscosities, at a variety of operating conditions. The data were obtained by both optical and wax-droplet methods.

Identification of the true distribution of drop sizes

1994
And adaptive approach has been used to identify the best candidate for the true size distribution of the microcapsules. The underlying procedure is based on linear combinations of the sample order statistics namely, Un and Vn. Various distributions are characterized in terms of the expected values of Un and Vn in a two dimensional plane.
