Autonomous Droplet Architectures
Artificial Life, 2015The quintessential living element of all organisms is the cell—a fluid-filled compartment enclosed, but not isolated, by a layer of amphiphilic molecules that self-assemble at its boundary. Cells of different composition can aggregate and communicate through the exchange of molecules across their boundaries. The astounding success of this architecture

A rebounding droplet impacting on a static droplet
Journal of Heat Transfer, 2015This study aims to experimentally examine rebounding characteristics of a free-fall droplet which impacts on a static droplet with a spherical-cap shape in a low Weber number range. Two well-aligned high-speed cameras were used for visualization of droplet behaviors after impact.

Unsteady droplet combustion with droplet heating
Combustion and Flame, 1976Abstract Unsteady droplet combustion caused by droplet heating is modelled by assuming quasi-steady gas-phase processes and the droplet temperature being spatially uniform but temporally varying. Results show droplet heating is a significant source for the experimentally observed unsteady combustion phenomena of Okajima and Kumagai.
