Research on accurate droplet generation for micro-droplet deposition manufacture
The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2009Micro-droplet deposition manufacture is a novel direct metal rapid prototyping for building the miniaturized parts. In this paper, the relationship between the droplet diameter and the operating parameters is investigated to obtain the optimal condition for the accurate droplet generation. The droplet generator is designed to adjust the parameters such

Droplet deposition in an annular geometry
International Journal of Multiphase Flow, 1979An analytical approach to the problem of droplet deposition in annular flow through an annulus is presented. The underlying theory, due to Hutchinson et al. (1971), allows the droplet deposition to be treated as a diffusion process and the results obtained enable some properties of mass transfer coefficients in non-circular geometries to be explained.

Thermal behavior during droplet-based deposition
Acta Materialia, 2000When a cold metallic substrate is used, the temperature at the deposited material's surface is below the solidus temperature during the initial stages of deposition. In this case, a single droplet experiences a significant rapid quenching effect, and can attain a very high cooling rate.

Controlling droplet deposition with polymer additives
Nature, 2000Controlling the impact of drops onto solid surfaces is important for a wide variey of coating and deposition processes--for example, the treatment of plants with herbicides and pesticides requires precise targeting in order to meet stringent toxicological regulations.

Droplet deposition growth and coalescence
Reports on Progress in Physics, 1992Processes involving the growth, motion and coalescence of fluid droplets have been studied for many years because of their scientific interest and practical importance. Interest in these processes has also been stimulated because they provide simple and often quite beautiful examples of pattern formation phenomena.

Droplet deposition in steam turbines
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 2004Research since the 1960s on the deposition of droplets from wet steam is reviewed, concentrating mainly on low-pressure turbines but also covering the limited work related to nuclear high-pressure turbines. The context is first set, outlining the motivation in terms of blade erosion and, to a lesser extent, wetness losses.

Engineered droplets for dried droplet solute deposition by mass spectrometric imaging
Microfluidics and Nanofluidics, 2011Solute deposition patterns of peptides are studied on dried droplet deposits from engineered droplet shapes using surface assisted laser desorption ionization mass spectrometric imaging. The engineered droplet shapes are achieved through superhydrophilic/hydrophobic patterned surfaces.

Evaporative cooling due to a gently deposited droplet
International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1993Abstract The transient thermal behavior of a single water droplet gently deposited on the surface of a semi-infinite solid is investigated. A coupled model that solves simultaneously the transient conduction equation for the solid and the liquid to yield the surface temperature and heat flux distributions as well as the description of the droplet ...

Elimination of droplet rebound off soluble substrate in metal droplet deposition
Materials Letters, 2018Abstract This letter presents a method and its mechanism of using Ag coating to inhibit rebound of Al droplets over soluble substrates. Experiments show that Ag coating can eliminate droplet rebound, which makes it possible to print complex parts with high-quality inner surface.

Picoliter droplets for spinless photoresist deposition
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2005In this article, we present an acoustically actuated two-dimensional (2D) micromachined ejector array for a zero waste and spinless droplet-by-droplet photoresist deposition method. The theory of operation, the experimental results obtained with acoustic focused 2D micromachined microdroplet ejector array is demonstrated.
