Droplet sizing with a wavelength modulated laser

Applied Optics, 2018
The light scattered by spherical droplets much larger than the wavelength may be modeled with rays associated with scattering orders that follow the laws of geometrical optics. These rays travel different paths as they are reflected and refracted by the droplet.

Photography and sizing of burning droplets

Journal of Physics E: Scientific Instruments, 1985
Laser-triggered stroboscopic photography has been used to obtain high quality images of moving, burning fuel droplets. A narrow laser beam defined the focal plane of a photographic system which was focused onto the beam. Light scattered by a droplet in the beam was used to trigger a backlighting stroboscope.

Microfluidic sorting of droplets by size

Microfluidics and Nanofluidics, 2007
Droplet sorting by size was achieved in microfluidic channels through controlling the bifurcating junction geometry and the flow rates of the daughter channels. The sorting designs separated droplets with a radius difference of as little as 4 μm. The developed droplet channel design can be potentially used in combination with other particle sorting ...

Droplet Sizing Interferometry

1990
Interferometric techniques, which use information encoded in the Doppler burst resulting from the interaction of a particle with a two-beam interference pattern have become practical diagnostic tools for the analysis of complex, two-phase flows.

Droplet Size and Phytotoxicity of Herbicides

Weed Science, 1972
An oil soluble formulation of the dodecyl (51% w/w) and the tetradecyl (13% w/w) amine salts of (2,4-dichlorophenoxy)acetic acid (2,4-D) was diluted with diesel oil and applied in homogeneous sprays of 100, 200, and 400-μ. droplets to seedlings of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L. ‘Peredovik’).

Merging of droplets in micro-channel independent of the droplet size and inter-droplet separation

SPIE Proceedings, 2015
We present a microfluidic chip where droplets of different liquids and sizes can be generated and merged independent of the droplets size and inter-droplet separation. The designed chip consists of two T-junctions located at each side of the long channel and a droplet merging area located at the center of the channel.

A micrometer head integrated microfluidic device for facile droplet size control and automatic measurement of a droplet size

ELECTROPHORESIS, 2019
AbstractA novel microfluidic droplet generator is proposed, which can control the droplet size through turning an integrated micrometer head with ease, and the size of the produced micro‐droplet can be automatically and real‐time monitored by an open‐sourced software and off‐the‐shelf hardware.

The effect of droplet size on drift

2001
A series of experiments were conducted in the field of Tekirdag Agricultural Faculty, Trakya University in order to achieve the objective of the study. Selected field was cultivated but wasn't planted. The measured wind velocity, relative humidity and temperature in the application fields were 1.3 m/s, 60% and 20 degreesC respectively.
