Continuous Growth of Droplet Size Variance due to Condensation in Turbulent Clouds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We use a stochastic model and direct numerical simulation to study the impact of turbulence on cloud droplet growth by condensation. We show that the variance of the droplet size distribution increases in time as t^{1/2}, with growth rate proportional to

Factors determining the surface oil concentration of encapsulated lipid particles: impact of the emulsion oil droplet size

open access: yesEuropean Food Research and Technology, 2020
Microencapsulation of oxidation sensitive oils aims to separate lipids from the environmental oxygen by embedding oil droplets in a solid matrix, which builds a physical barrier.

Droplet size distribution in homogeneous isotropic turbulence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We study the physics of droplet breakup in a statistically stationary homogeneous and isotropic turbulent flow by means of high resolution numerical investigations based on the multicomponent lattice Boltzmann method.

Measurement of Sprinkler Droplet Size [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Engineering in Agriculture, 2001
Droplet distributions for rotating spray-plate sprinklers were measured using a laser technology and a flour methodology. In general, both methods produced comparable results. The flour method tended to produce d25, d50 and d75 values that were on the average about 0.20 mm (about 15% of the d 50 value) larger than laser values.

Lipid droplet size directs lipolysis and lipophagy catabolism in hepatocytes

open access: yesJournal of Cell Biology, 2019
Lipolysis and lipophagy are thought to be distinct mechanisms for lipid droplet catabolism. In hepatocytes, Schott et al. report that these pathways may operate synergistically: the lipolysis enzyme ATGL targets large LDs upstream of lipophagy, which is ...

Effects of Oil Droplet Size and Interfacial Protein Film on the Properties of Fish Myofibrillar Protein–Oil Composite Gels

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
The effects of oil droplet size and the formation of an interfacial protein film (IPF) on silver carp myofibrillar protein (MP)–oil composite gels were studied.

Simulation and Experiment on Droplet Volume for the Needle-Type Piezoelectric Jetting Dispenser

open access: yesMicromachines, 2019
The needle-type piezoelectric jetting dispenser is widely applied in the microelectronics packaging field, and it is important to control the droplet size to ensure that the droplet jetting process is successful. In this study, we analyzed the influences

Physicochemical properties, droplet size and volatility of dicamba with herbicides and adjuvants on tank-mixture

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2020
The adoption of dicamba-tolerant soybean varieties has increased the concern and demand for new drift and volatility reduction technologies. Potential spray nozzles and adjuvants should be studied to determine its effects on drift and volatility of ...
