Probabilistic derivation of droplet velocity using quadrature method of moments

open access: yesOpen Engineering, 2023
Accurately prediction of dispersion and polydispersity of droplet flow is not a trivial task due to the complex behavior of the droplet size distribution (DSD) and the strong state of the instantaneous velocity of a droplet on the shape and size of the ...

Droplet Size Distribution in Spray

open access: yesChemical engineering, 1969

Atomization Characteristics of a Hollow Cone Nozzle for Air-Assisted Variable-Rate Spraying

open access: yesAgriculture, 2023
During variable-rate spraying in orchards, the atomization characteristics and distribution of droplets in and out of the target area can be affected by the sprayer pressure. In this study, a variable-rate spraying control system test bench was designed,

Enable a Facile Size Re-distribution of MBE-Grown Ga-Droplets via In Situ Pulsed Laser Shooting

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2021
A MBE-prepared Gallium (Ga)-droplet surface on GaAs (001) substrate is in situ irradiated by a single shot of UV pulsed laser. It demonstrates that laser shooting can facilely re-adjust the size of Ga-droplet and a special Ga-droplet of extremely broad ...

Predicting Droplet Size Distributions of Emulsions Produced in a Sonolator [PDF]

open access: yesIndustrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2020
Producing emulsions continuously compared to in batch production has many benefits, such as increased speed and agility of production. A Sonolator, a device similar to a high-pressure homogenizer, is capable of this continuous production. In this paper, the size of droplets produced during emulsification has been investigated for various orifice ...

Droplet size prediction model based on the upper limit log-normal distribution function in venturi scrubber

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2019
Droplet size and distribution are important parameters determining venturi scrubber performance. In this paper, we proposed physical models for a maximum stable droplet size prediction and upper limit log-normal (ULLN) distribution parameters.

Hierarchical microcavity topography for enhancement of water vapor condensation heat transfer by regulating droplet dynamics and droplet size distribution

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2021
Manipulating droplet dynamics is of great importance in condensation heat transfer enhancement. Cavity topography was believed to be able to regulate droplet merging and self-removal via Laplace force imbalance by the cavity wall and the effect of ...

Fixed Spraying Systems Application in Citrus Orchards: Nozzle Type and Nozzle Position Effects on Droplet Deposition and Pest Control

open access: yesAgronomy, 2023
Pesticide application is an essential means of controlling plant diseases and pests in citrus orchards. In recent years, fixed spraying systems have gradually been used as alternatives to traditional sprayers and manual sprayers in some hilly citrus ...

Droplet Size Distribution in Sprays Based on Maximization of Entropy Generation

open access: yesEntropy, 2003
: The maximum entropy principle (MEP), which has been popular in the modeling of droplet size and velocity distribution in sprays, is, strictly speaking, only applicable for isolated systems in thermodynamic equilibrium; whereas the spray formation ...
