FEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Size-distribution of droplets in emulsions by statistical mechanics calculation
Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2011 This report is concerned with theoretical demonstration of the spontaneous emulsification which has been observed in a soft contact of nitrobenzene with water without surfactant [K. Aoki, M. Li, J. Chen, T. Nishiumi, Electrochem. Commun. 11 (2009) 239]. The demonstration is based on the model of spherical oil droplets with any size in equilibrium.

Transactions of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, 1938 液体を霧化した場合、微小液滴の大きさは一様でなく、大小無数の粒が入り混つてゐるのが普通である。本報告では既報の水流を高速気流で微粒化した場合の粒の大きさの分布を実験式で表はし、粒の大きさは全く不規則に分布してゐるものか、又は或種の分布法則に従ふものかを吟味した。その結果粒径が(x-Δx/2)～(x+Δx/2)の間にある粒数dnは総てdn=axpexp(-bxq)・dxの形の実験式で示され、水量に対して空気量が充分あり而もかなり高速の場合はp=2,q=1となることを知つた。即ち総粒数をnとすればdn=0.5nb3x2exp(-bx)・dxで表はされ、実験常数bだけの函数となる。空気量が不充分で且低速の場合はp=2 ...
