Toward an Understanding of the Indirect Climatic Effect of Aerosols [PDF]
This thesis is motivated by the need to improve our understanding of the aerosol indirect effect. The activation of aerosol into cloud droplets has been extensively studied, using a comprehensive numerical cloud droplet activation model. Using this model,

High-pressure homogenization is a commonly used process to produce emulsions with a droplet size of less than 1 μm. During the process, a pre-emulsion is pumped with a pressure of several mega Pascal through a disruption unit, where the droplets are ...

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Liquid biopsy‐based diagnostic evaluation of hypermethylated CpG sites for ovarian cancer diagnosis
This schematic outlines the workflow from biomarker identification to duplex MethyLight assay validation for epithelial ovarian cancer diagnosis using cfDNA‐based liquid biopsy. Initial screening of hypermethylated CpG candidates (cg02957270, cg10061138 cg00480298, COL2A1) was performed in tissue using ARMS‐PCR, COBRA, qPCR and image analysis. Selected

Canopy Effects Droplet Size Distribution and Meteorological Change
Wind speed fluctuations measured via a 3-dimensional sonic anemometer recording at 10 Hz returned detailed information both above and within the canopy. The information returned facilitated detailed descriptions of atmospheric energy. In short, large energetic motions equal spray transfer into the target zone, the plant canopy.

Droplet size distribution in homogeneous isotropic turbulence [PDF]
We study the physics of droplet breakup in a statistically stationary homogeneous and isotropic turbulent flow by means of high resolution numerical investigations based on the multicomponent lattice Boltzmann method. We verified the validity of the criterion proposed by Hinze [AIChE J.

Loss of proton‐sensing TDAG8 increases tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer
Loss of the pH‐sensing receptor TDAG8 accelerates colorectal cancer progression in mice. Animals lacking TDAG8 expression had increased tumor growth, DNA damage, and recruitment of tumor‐associated immune cells, including macrophages, neutrophils, and monocytes.

Extraction of a Theoretical Energy-based Model to Estimate Mean Droplet Diameter of the Swirl Injector Spray [PDF]
The droplet formation stage of a spray, which enjoys a great diversity in size and droplet velocity, is predictable through a statistical approach. Since the available methods require experimental data such as mean droplet diameter and mean droplet ...
