Exploiting the Twisted Intramolecular Charge Transfer Effect to Construct a Wash-Free Solvatochromic Fluorescent Lipid Droplet Probe for Fatty Liver Disease Diagnosis.

Analytical Chemistry, 2022
The prominent pathological feature of fatty liver disease lesions is excessive fat accumulation in lipid droplets in hepatocytes. Thus, developing fluorescent lipid droplet-specific probes with high permeability and a high imaging contrast provides a ...

Heat Transfer Within Deforming Droplets

Design, Application, Performance and Emissions of Modern Internal Combustion Engine Systems and Components, 2002
The effect of droplet oscillation on internal heat transfer was investigated using a transient, three-dimensional Navier-Stokes solver for free-surface flows. The code solves conservation of momentum and energy on a three-dimensional deforming domain.

The influence of an advecting vortex on the heat transfer to a liquid droplet [PDF]

open access: possibleInternational Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1996
Abstract The unsteady three-dimensional interaction of an initially cylindrical vortex tube with a droplet in a uniform stream is investigated through a numerical solution of the Navier-Stokes equations. Particular attention is given to the effect of the vortex on the droplet convective heat transfer.

Droplet transfer and spatter generation in DC–AC pulse tandem gas metal arc welding

Science and technology of welding and joining, 2020
Tandem welding increases productivity in gas metal arc welding (GMAW). We investigate asynchronous DC–AC pulse tandem GMAW. We analyse welding arc and droplet behaviour for two tandem welding processes, DC standard-AC pulse and DC pulse-AC pulse ...

Boiling Heat Transfer and Droplet Spreading of Nanofluids

Recent Patents on Nanotechnology, 2013
Nanofluids- a new class of heat transfer fluids have recently been a very attractive area of research due to their fascinating thermophysical properties and numerous potential benefits and applications in many important fields. However, there are many controversies and inconsistencies in reported arguments and experimental results on various thermal ...

Control of droplet transfer using a filler-wire in tandem arc welding

Science and technology of welding and joining, 2020
In this paper, the tandem flux-cored arc welding process was enhanced to improve weld productivity. Additional filler-wire of opposite polarity was used to prevent deterioration of weld quality that occurred due to arc interaction at two electrodes ...

Resistance to mass transfer inside droplets

AIChE Journal, 1964
AbstractAn experimental investigation of the effects of various physical properties on the dispersedphase mass transfer coefficient was carried out for both nonoscillating and oscillating liquid droplets falling in a single stream through stationary continuous liquid phases.

Transfer cells and lipid droplets of someValerianaceae

Plant Systematics and Evolution, 1990
Development, structure and the axial distribution of transfer cells and their lignification were investigated inValerianella locusta, Valeriana officinalis, andV. tuberosa (Valerianaceae). Fundamental new results are: (1) Transfer cells often contain numerous lipid droplets. Within the stem the distribution of cells containing lipid droplets correlates

TRANSIENT HEAT TRANSFER TO A DROPLET SUSPENDED IN AN ELECTRIC FIELD

Numerical Heat Transfer, 1988
An implicit alternating direction scheme is proposed here to solve the energy equation for the transient heat transfer to a fluid droplet suspended in an electric field. Use of Peaceman-Rachford scheme adopted by earlier authors produces undesirable oscillations in the Nusselt numbers which can be eliminated by the method proposed here.

Heat transfer during condensing droplet coalescence

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2018
Abstract Dropwise condensation can yield heat fluxes up to an order of magnitude higher than filmwise condensation. Coalescence is the primary mode of growth for condensing droplets above a small threshold size (e.g., radius r > 2 μm for water at 1 atm), but no prior studies have quantitatively assessed heat transfer during coalescence.
