Droplet transfer in arcing-wire GTAW
Journal of Manufacturing Processes, 2016Abstract In arcing-wire GTAW process, the wire melting speed and weld penetration are decoupled. To well study the arcing-wire GTAW, especially the droplet transfer mode, the forces imposed on the droplet are analyzed firstly and compared with those in conventional GMAW. Then the experiments have been carefully designed and conducted.

Droplet Combustion With Radiative Heat Transfer
ASME 1997 Turbo Asia Conference, 1997Combustion of a droplet, either in stationary or convective motion under the effect of radiative heat transfer is studied. The closed form expression of gasification laws and the radiative flux distribution surrounding a stationary droplet are calculated using Potential Theory of Radiation in conjunction with the canonical theory of droplet recently ...

Droplet transfer and spatter generation in DC–AC pulse tandem gas metal arc welding
Science and technology of welding and joining, 2020Tandem welding increases productivity in gas metal arc welding (GMAW). We investigate asynchronous DC–AC pulse tandem GMAW. We analyse welding arc and droplet behaviour for two tandem welding processes, DC standard-AC pulse and DC pulse-AC pulse ...

Mass transfer within oscillating liquid droplets
The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, 1970AbstractAll existing relations describing mass transfer within oscillating droplets were critically compared with experimental data in which resistance to transfer is predominantly inside the droplet. Several new relations are also developed to estimate oscillating droplet extraction efficiencies, one of which is recommended in view of its theoretical ...

Droplet Cooling Heat Transfer Model Validation
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2000<div class="htmlview paragraph">Heat transfer by phase change is an attractive method of cooling since large amounts of heat can be removed with relatively small temperature differences. Droplet cooling is one method whereby very high heat transfer rates coupled with good temperature uniformity across surfaces can be provided, which is important ...

Heat transfer during condensing droplet coalescence
International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2018Abstract Dropwise condensation can yield heat fluxes up to an order of magnitude higher than filmwise condensation. Coalescence is the primary mode of growth for condensing droplets above a small threshold size (e.g., radius r > 2 μm for water at 1 atm), but no prior studies have quantitatively assessed heat transfer during coalescence.

Droplet transfer in two-phase annular flow
International Journal of Multiphase Flow, 1983Abstract The tracer method, adopted by a number of experiments for the measurement of the rate of liquid interchange between the wall layer and the dispersed phase in a fully developed annular flow, has been critically examined on the basis of a more accurate description of the flow behavior of entrained droplets.

Control of droplet transfer using a filler-wire in tandem arc welding
Science and technology of welding and joining, 2020In this paper, the tandem flux-cored arc welding process was enhanced to improve weld productivity. Additional filler-wire of opposite polarity was used to prevent deterioration of weld quality that occurred due to arc interaction at two electrodes ...

Spontaneous transfer of droplets across microfluidic laminar interfaces
Lab on a Chip, 2016Passive transfer of droplets across the laminar interfaces of two immiscible fluids is successfully achieved by precise control of the interfacial energies in a three phase microfluidic system.
