Abstract We introduce collinear drop jet substructure observables, which are unaffected by contributions from collinear radiation, and systematically probe soft radiation within jets. These observables can be designed to be either sensitive or insensitive to process-dependent soft radiation originating from outside the jet.

Symmetric and Asymmetric Coalescence of Drops on a Substrate [PDF]
The coalescence of viscous drops on a substrate is studied experimentally and theoretically. We consider cases where the drops can have different contact angles, leading to a very asymmetric coalescence process.

Glue drops inside hadrons [PDF]
We present experimental evidences for the existence of a semi-hard scale in light hadrons. This includes the suppression of gluon radiation that is seen in high mass hadron diffraction; the weak energy dependence of hadronic total cross sections; the ...

Coalescence of Liquid Drops [PDF]
When two drops of radius $R$ touch, surface tension drives an initially singular motion which joins them into a bigger drop with smaller surface area. This motion is always viscously dominated at early times.

Lift force acting on a levitating drop over a moving wall
We experimentally investigate a levitating drop over a moving wall. Between the drop and the wall, a thin air film exists. In this study particular attention is given to examine whether the lift force generated inside the thin air film is dominant force ...

The impact of coagulation and division of drops on the parameters of the gas-drop turbulent jet
This article is devoted to the definition of conditions under which the calculation of the gas-drop turbulent jet must be carried out with account of the interaction of drops.

Drops, Drops, and More Drops [PDF]
Glaucoma is the second leading cause of blindness worldwide. (Quigley & Broman, 2006) In undeveloped countries, both limited detection and inadequate treatment contribute to the high prevalence (20%) of blindness from glaucoma. (Leske et al., 2004) Yet, even in developed nations, where treatment is available and accessible for most of those who have ...

This paper reports our work on developing a surface tension actuated micro-robotic platform supported by three bubbles (liquid environment) or droplets (gaseous environment).

A New Method for Searching for Free Fractional Charge Particles in Bulk Matter [PDF]
We present a new experimental method for searching for free fractional charge in bulk matter; this new method derives from the traditional Millikan liquid drop method, but allows the use of much larger drops, 20 to 100 mm in diameter, compared to the ...
