Drosophila kikkawai - Sox102F. [PDF]

open access: yesMicroPubl Biol
The Drosophila kikkawai feature with NCBI Gene ID 108084518 was determined to be an ortholog of Drosophila melanogaster Sox102F, a member of the FlyBase High Mobility Group Box Transcription Factors gene group (FBgg0000748). Five isoforms were constructed using the GEP F element annotation protocol, the longest being novel isoform Sox102F-PNE ...

Ancestral polymorphisms in Drosophila pseudoobscura and Drosophila miranda [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Ancestral polymorphisms are defined as variants that arose by mutation prior to the speciation event that generated the species in which they segregate. Their presence may complicate the interpretation of molecular data and lead to incorrect phylogenetic

Drosophila kikkawai ortholog of the D. melanogaster Muller D element ash1. [PDF]

open access: yesMicroPubl Biol
The Drosophila kikkawai feature with Gene ID 108083276 was determined to be an ortholog of Drosophila melanogaster absent, small, or homeotic discs 1 ( ash1 ). Two isoforms, ash1-PB and ash1-PC, were constructed on the D. kikkawai Muller D element using the GEP annotation protocol. The second coding exon of D.

Molecular evolution and functional characterization of Drosophila insulin-like peptides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Multicellular animals match costly activities, such as growth and reproduction, to the environment through nutrient-sensing pathways. The insulin/IGF signaling (IIS) pathway plays key roles in growth, metabolism, stress resistance, reproduction, and ...

Evolution of assortative mating following selective introgression of pigmentation genes between two Drosophila species

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 12, Issue 4, April 2022., 2022
Adaptive introgression is widespread in nature, but its role in driving species remains contested. We showed that experimental introgression of 2–3 pigmentation loci between two Drosophila species with contrasting colors produced hybrid strains that were morphologically and behaviorally distinct from the parental species.

Eco‐genetics of desiccation resistance in Drosophila

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 96, Issue 4, Page 1421-1440, August 2021., 2021
ABSTRACT Climate change globally perturbs water circulation thereby influencing ecosystems including cultivated land. Both harmful and beneficial species of insects are likely to be vulnerable to such changes in climate. As small animals with a disadvantageous surface area to body mass ratio, they face a risk of desiccation.
