Conformable Ferrimagnetic Tattoo Electrodes for Plant Electrophysiology

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
The newly developed ferrimagnetic tattoo electrode is capable of measuring plant electrophysiological activity outside the Faraday cage. Its ability to adhere without damaging the plant tissue allows long‐term recordings. This premise opens new avenues for in‐field monitoring of plant health through electrophysiology.

Predicting sugar beet leaf area index: evaluating performance of double sigmoid functions under different irrigation and plant density scenarios

open access: yesScientific Reports
The leaf area index (LAI) dynamics in sugar beet follow a double sigmoidal curve, modeled as the subtraction of two sigmoid functions. In this study, we examined the accuracy of 15 different sigmoid functions in describing the sugar beet LAI variation ...

NLSS3 Impairs SHM1 Autophagic Degradation to Regulate Leaf Morphology and Salt Tolerance in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In rice, NLSS3 binds and shields SHM1 from autophagic degradation to maintain serine homeostasis. The A132P mutation in nlss3 disrupts this, triggering SHM1 loss, metabolic dysfunction, K+ imbalance, and impaired ROS scavenging, which collectively drive narrow leaves and salt sensitivity.

Extra Climate Benefits From Afforestation Due to Reduced Forest Fragmentation in China

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Afforestation in China reduced forest fragmentation in 2015, transforming 51.8 M ha of edge forests into interior forests. This enhanced carbon sequestration (1.4±0.2 Pg CO2e, a cooling biogeochemical effect), while reduced albedo (−0.9 Pg CO2e, a warming biophysical effect) partially offset the gain, yielding a net extra climate benefit of ...

Seasonal teleconnections between SPI-6 and Ocean–Atmosphere variability for drought prediction in Korea

open access: yesKSCE Journal of Civil Engineering
We examined seasonal teleconnections between the six-month Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI-6) over Korea and large-scale ocean–atmosphere variability for 1991–2020, in order to identify climate indices useful for mid- to long-term drought ...

Tools for agricultural drought detection in the frame of Drought Management Centre for Southeastern Europe – DMCSEE

open access: yesActa Agriculturae Slovenica, 2012
Numerous specialized indices have been proposed to assess drought severity, but the precise quantification of drought is a difficult challenge. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate two indices: the well known Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI ...

Histone Modification Complex JMJ704‐HDA709 Negatively Regulates Salinity Tolerance in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the rice histone demethylase JMJ704 interacts with HDA709―a H3K9ac deacetylase characterized herein―to form a chromatin‐modifying complex. Under salt stress, OsWRKY72 recruits this complex through interaction with JMJ704 to target loci, repressing the expression of oxidative stress and salt‐responsive genes via removal of ...
