A Novel Index for Agricultural Drought Measurement: Soil Moisture and Evapotranspiration Revealed Drought Index (SERDI)

open access: yesClimate
Droughts are common across various climates, typically caused by prolonged decreases in rainfall. Several factors contribute to drought, including the temperature, wind speed, and relative humidity and the timing, amount, and intensity of rainfall during the growing season. This study introduces the Soil Moisture and Evapotranspiration Revealed Drought

Fibril Structure of Desiccation‐Protective Tardigrade Protein CAHS‐8

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We present the atomic structure of the fibril formed by an intrinsically disordered protein that has been shown to be responsible for remarkable environmental stress in tardigrades. X‐ray crystallography reveals a unique mechanism of fibril assembly whereby a single helix forms a stable, antiparallel coiled‐coil dimer, which then assembles into a ...

Technobiological Pathways for High‐CO₂ Capture Using Micro‐/Macroalgae: Genetic Engineering, Process Automation, and Value‐Added Bioproducts

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions have emerged as one of the most critical drivers of climate change; this is primarily due to high concentrations and long atmospheric life of carbon dioxide (CO2). For a significant amount of time, various biological processes such as microalgal cultivation, cyanobacterial systems, photosynthetic microorganisms ...

Probabilistic linkages of propagation from meteorological to agricultural drought in the North African semi-arid region

open access: yesFrontiers in Water
Understanding the probability of drought occurrence in agricultural areas is important for designing effective adaptation strategies to drought impacts on agriculture and food security.

A new species of Lonchidiidae (Hybodontiformes) from the Late Jurassic of Brazil (Aliança Formation, Jatobá Basin)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The Aliança Formation (Jatobá Basin) represents lacustrine deposits formed in oxygenated waters that hosted a diverse fauna, including Hybodontiform sharks. Within this group, the Family Lonchidiidae comprises 11 valid genera, with Parvodus previously reported in Brazilian deposits from the Brejo Santo Formation (Araripe Basin, Late Jurassic ...

Effects of Replacing Alfalfa Hay With Barley Silage in High‐Concentrate Diets: Chewing Behavior, Ruminal Fermentation, Total‐Tract Digestibility, and Milk Production of Dairy Cows in Mid‐Lactation Phase

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
We assessed lactation productivity in dairy cows when replacing alfalfa hay with barley silage. A 50% replacement increased feed intake, whereas total replacement improved nutrient conversion to milk. Barley silage can effectively replace alfalfa hay, enhancing sustainability and resilience in dairy production amid forage quality constraints and market
