Comparative evaluation of precipitation-temperature based drought indices (DIs): A case study of Moroccan Lower Sebou basin

open access: yesKuwait Journal of Science, 2022
Due to the lack of studies on drought in the Lower Sebou basin (LSB), the complexity of drought event and the difference in climate conditions. The identification of the most appropriate drought indices (DIs) to assess drought conditions has become a ...

Evaluation of Drought Indices using the Drought Records [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Korea Water Resources Association, 2011

Physiological drought responses improve predictions of live fuel moisture dynamics in a Mediterranean forest. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The moisture content of live fuels is an important determinant of forest flammability. Current approaches for modelling live fuel moisture content typically focus on the use of drought indices.

Projection of Future Drought Characteristics under Multiple Drought Indices

open access: yesWater, 2021
Drought is a natural phenomenon caused by the variability of climate. This study was conducted in the Songhua River Basin of China. The drought events were estimated by using the Reconnaissance Drought Index (RDI) and Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) which are based on precipitation (P) and potential evapotranspiration (PET) data.

Comparison of three remotely sensed drought indices for assessing the impact of drought on winter wheat yield

open access: yesInternational Journal of Digital Earth, 2020
Agricultural drought threatens food security. Numerous remote-sensing drought indices have been developed, but their different principles, assumptions and physical quantities make it necessary to compare their suitability for drought monitoring over ...
