Future Changes in Floods, Droughts, and Their Extents in the Alps: A Sensitivity Analysis With a Non‐Stationary Stochastic Streamflow Generator

open access: yesEarth's Future
Spatially compounding droughts and floods challenge water management and may become more severe in a warming climate. However, the influence of climate change on widespread hydrologic extremes remains largely unknown because they are neither well ...

The effect of supplemental irrigation from polyacrylamide-treated microcatchments on the growth of acacia saligna in dryland

open access: yesForest Science and Technology, 2019
A field study was carried to determine the impact of the land application of polyacrylamide (PAM) on the runoff used for supplemental irrigation. Five treatments were investigated: PAM A-130, PAM A-836, PAM Aerotil, plastic mulch, and natural (no PAM no ...

Phylogenomics, ecomorphological evolution, and historical biogeography in Deuterocohnia (Bromeliaceae: Pitcairnioideae)

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Abstract Premise Species of Deuterocohnia (17 spp.) show extraordinary variation in elevation (0–3900 m a.s.l.) and growth forms, and many have narrow geographic distributions in the west‐central Andes and the Peru‐Chile coast. Previous research using few plastid and nuclear loci failed to produce well‐resolved or supported phylogenies.

Regional Low Flow Hydrology: Model Development and Evaluation

open access: yesWater Resources Research
Low flows result from the interplay of climatic variability and catchment storage dynamics, but it is unclear which of these variables is more relevant for explaining low flow spatial patterns.

A new species of Lonchidiidae (Hybodontiformes) from the Late Jurassic of Brazil (Aliança Formation, Jatobá Basin)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The Aliança Formation (Jatobá Basin) represents lacustrine deposits formed in oxygenated waters that hosted a diverse fauna, including Hybodontiform sharks. Within this group, the Family Lonchidiidae comprises 11 valid genera, with Parvodus previously reported in Brazilian deposits from the Brejo Santo Formation (Araripe Basin, Late Jurassic ...
