Bench Testing Analysis of Perforation Management in the Setting of Bifurcation Coronary Intervention

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Volume 107, Issue 4, Page 888-897, March 1, 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Management of coronary perforation in bifurcation lesions with covered stents remains challenging. Aims We aimed to describe a proper practice and toolbox for “jailed‐branch” management after covered stent deployment. Methods Using a bench model, we tested various wires with a 120° angulated microcatheter for their ability to ...

Indobufen Dual Antiplatelet Therapy (DAPT) Versus Aspirin Dual Antiplatelet Therapy (DAPT) After Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI): A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Volume 107, Issue 4, Page 1225-1236, March 1, 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT), which combines aspirin with a P2Y12 receptor inhibitor, is considered the standard of care for patients who have had percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). This study aimed to compare indobufen‐based (DAPT) to aspirin‐based (DAPT) after PCI.

Paclitaxel- or sirolimus-coated balloons used for ArterioVEnous fistulas-2 (PAVE-2): study protocol for a randomised controlled trial to determine the efficacy of paclitaxel- or sirolimus-coated balloons in arteriovenous fistulas used for haemodialysis

open access: yesTrials
Background In view of the conflicting results from previous studies, the benefit of paclitaxel-coated balloons for arteriovenous fistulas is uncertain and equipoise remains. Although an industry-led trial testing the efficacy of sirolimus-coated balloons

Cephalalgia—A “Tricky” Symptom for the Cardiologist: Acute Coronary Syndrome Presenting as Headache

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Rarely, headache may be the primary or sole symptom of acute myocardial ischemia; clinicians should recognize such atypical presentations and obtain an electrocardiogram and cardiac biomarkers to establish the diagnosis and guide urgent treatment.

Coronary Angioplasty with Drug-Coated Balloons: Pharmacological Foundations, Clinical Efficacy, and Future Directions

open access: yesMedicina
Drug-coated balloons (DCBs) have transformed percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) by delivering antiproliferative drugs directly to the arterial wall, offering a stent-less approach that mitigates the risks associated with permanent metallic implants.

Ninjurin1 in cardiovascular and vascular biology: From molecular mechanisms to therapeutic opportunities

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 3, March 2026.
NINJ1 mediates PMR in cardiovascular cell death, releasing DAMPs that amplify vascular inflammation. Dual NINJ1 paradox: membrane‐bound form drives endothelial NF‐κB/CXCL‐8 inflammation while soluble form provides atheroprotection. Pericyte NINJ1 regulates the critical balance between angiogenic sprouting and vessel maturation in ischaemic tissues ...

An Exploratory Study on the Pathogenic Role of Faecal Extracellular Vesicles in Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease Progression and in Drug‐Induced Liver Injury

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 3, March 2026.
Fecal extracellular vesicles (fEVs) from DILI patients have a distinct bacterial profile. This study provides evidence that bacterial EVs enter the bloodstream. DILI and MASLD F≥3 fEVs increase the pro‐inflammatory response and hepatocyte steatosis. FEVs from DILI patients enhance the hepatotoxic potential of diclofenac.

Novel PMVs/ZIP4/Zinc/Prelamin A Axis Promotes Nuclear Dysmorphism and Vascular Aging in Humans and Rodents Post‐Injury: Effective Treatment With Platelet Membrane‐Coated ZIF‐8 Nanoparticles

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 3, March 2026.
Interventional therapy and surgical injury induce nuclear dysmorphism and vascular aging. Nuclear dysmorphism is positively associated with vascular aging. Novel PMVs/ZIP4/Zinc/preLamin A axis plays a key role in injury‐induced nuclear dysmorphism and vascular aging.
