Major adverse limb events in patients with femoro-popliteal and below-the-knee peripheral arterial disease treated with either sirolimus-coated balloon or standard uncoated balloon angioplasty: a structured protocol summary of the “SirPAD” randomized controlled trial

open access: yesTrials, 2022
Background Peripheral arterial disease is a progressive atherosclerotic disease with symptoms ranging from an intermittent claudication to acute critical limb ischemia and amputations. Drug-coated balloons and stents were developed to prevent neo-intimal

Drug-Coated Balloons in STEMI [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The management of ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) has evolved significantly with the introduction of new pharmacological therapies as well as interventional procedures and devices. The GISSI and ISIS-2 studies showed a mortality benefit of streptokinase over standard therapy (heparin ± oral anticoagulation)/placebo which lead to the ...

Drug-Coated Balloon for the Treatment of Nonacute Symptomatic Intracranial Carotid Artery Terminus Occlusion: Initial Experience and Follow-Up Outcome

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology, 2022
BackgroundStudies on the recanalization for occlusion of the internal carotid artery terminus are scattered. Recently, drug-coated balloon (DCB) has been increasingly applied in the intracranial artery occlusion and achieved encouraging results. However,

Basic Concepts and Clinical Outcomes of Drug-Eluting Balloons for Treatment of Coronary Artery Disease: An Overview [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2017
The technology of percutaneous coronary intervention for atherosclerotic coronary artery disease has evolved considerably since its inception. Though Drug-Eluting Stent (DES) reduces the rate of restenosis, long-term safety outcomes and persistent ...

High Entropy Wide‐Bandgap Borates with Broadband Luminescence and Large Nonlinear Optical properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
High‐entropy rare‐earth borates exhibit excellent nonlinear optical and broadband luminescence properties arising from multi‐component doping, chemical disorder, increased configurational entropy, and increased lattice and electronic anharmonicity. This formulation enabled us to obtain a large, environmentally stable single crystal with 3X higher laser‐

Diffuse Cutaneous Manifestations after Drug-Coated Balloon Angioplasty [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Vascular Surgery, 2020
We present here a case of an uncommon cutaneous manifestation after paclitaxel-coated balloon angioplasty. In this case, the patient underwent drug-coated balloon angioplasty for stenosis of a prior vein bypass graft. The patient subsequently developed extensive cutaneous lesions not confined to a single arterial distribution.

Deterministic hBN Bubbles as a Versatile Platform for Studies on Single‐Photon Emitters

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Single‐photon emitters (SPEs) in hBN are promising for quantum technologies; however, in exfoliated samples their activation is required, limiting reproducibility of previous studies. This work introduces a large‐area MOVPE‐grown hBN platform that hosts SPEs without prior activation.
