Safety Evaluation of Repeated Application of Polymeric Microarray Patches in Miniature Pigs

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates the safety of repeated application of three types of microarray patches (MAPs), hydrogelforming, dissolving, and implantable, over four weeks in miniature pigs. No adverse skin or systemic effects were observed, supporting the clinical potential of MAPs as safe and effective drug delivery platforms.

Steroids in pediatric eosinophilic esophagitis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Swallowed fluticasone and oral viscous budesonide are effective first-line therapies for eosinophilic esophagitis in children. Side effects are minimal without evidence of Cushing syndrome, as seen in treatment with systemic corticosteroids.

Nanostructured 316L Stainless Steel Stent Surfaces Improve Corrosion Resistance, and Enhance Endothelization and Hemocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study investigates the impact of nanostructured surface modification on corrosion resistance, HUVEC functions, and platelet interactions of 316L SS for cardiovascular stents. Nanostructured surfaces enhanced HUVEC proliferation, migration, and angiogenesis‐related gene expression while reducing platelet adhesion and hemolysis.

Cephalosporin Induced Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis and Subsequent Penicillin Drug Exanthem

open access: yesAllergology International, 2008
Background: Drug hypersensitivity is classically divided into IgE mediated and non-IgE mediated disease. We report a rare case of consequent IgE mediated and non-IgE mediated reactions within the beta lactam class of antibiotics. Case Summary: An 84-year-

Beta-lactam allergy in Chinese patients and factors predicting genuine allergy

open access: yesWorld Allergy Organization Journal, 2019
Introduction: Beta-lactams (BL) are the most frequently reported drug allergy, but the vast majority of patients are found not to be genuinely allergic after evaluation. Few studies have investigated the clinical predictors of genuine BL allergy, and the

Galactose-α-1,3-galactose Allergy Induced by Amblyomma americanum: A Review and Introduction of Experimental Designs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The galactose-α-1,3-galactose (alpha-gal) allergy was identified following a drug trial of Cetuximab. The patients who reacted with anaphylaxis had all previously been bitten by the lone star tick.
