Human hair tests to document drug environmental contamination: Application in a family law case involving N,N-dimethyltryptamine.

Drug Testing and Analysis, 2020
For 40 years, hair tests have been presented as the best approach to document long-term consumption of a drug. This unique property has found numerous applications in clinical, forensic, and occupational toxicology.

Combine thermal processing with polyvalent phage LPEK22 to prevent the Escherichia coli and Salmonella enterica contamination in food.

Food Research International, 2023
Thermal processing is the most frequently used method to destruct bacteria in food processing. However, insufficient thermal processing may lead to the outbreak of foodborne illness.

Contaminated Drug-Using Bodies

2007
Since the beginning of the ‘AIDS epidemic’, prostitutes and injecting drug users have been blamed for transmitting HIV/AIDS to the heterosexual community. This emphasis on deviant bodies as cultural embodiments of material conduits of HIV/AIDS has been a consistent theme in public health policies and legal discourses, as well as biomedical and ...

High on pollution: drugs as environmental contaminants

Journal of Environmental Monitoring, 2003
Environmental protection has advanced in leaps and bounds over recent years and today we undoubtedly live in a much cleaner world than we did a generation ago. But look closely and all is not what it seems. Rather than reducing pollution, we are, in fact, still bathed in a sea of chemicals.

Drug-drug cross contamination in the Swisslog fully automated medication handling system

European Journal of Hospital Pharmacy, 2020
The risk of drug-drug cross contamination in drug dispensing robots in hospital pharmacies causes cumbersome restraints to be put on the production of the robot for example by scheduling high-risk drugs to be dispensed at the end of the day. However, we were unable to find published data on the matter, and therefore performed a worst-case scenario ...

Vanadium-Contaminated Perioperatively Administered Infusion Solutions and Drugs

Biological Trace Element Research, 2000
Vanadium was determined in 51 solutions and drugs for intravenous administration and in 6 salt components of a multitrace element solution using electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry. The highest V contaminations were found in albumin solutions showing values of more than 600 microg/L V.

Anaesthetic drugs and bacterial contamination.

European journal of anaesthesiology. Supplement, 1996
We investigated the bacterial contamination of commonly used intravenous anaesthetic agents. Ten trainee anaesthetists drew up four syringes each of propofol, midazolam, thiopentone, 0.9% saline and a culture medium control using their normal practice. A set of syringes was cultured at the time of drawing up and at 2, 4 and 8 h afterwards.

Illicit drugs, a novel group of environmental contaminants

Water Research, 2008
It is now well established that residues from therapeutic drugs consumed by humans can end up, through the sewage system, in the surface water of populated areas. Given that the global production of major illicit drugs is comparable to that of widely used pharmaceuticals, we tested for the presence of drugs of abuse (cocaine, opioids, amphetamines and ...
