Drug contamination of US paper currency.
Forensic Science International, 2001It is known that US paper currency in the general circulation is contaminated with cocaine. Several mechanisms have been offered to explain this finding, including contamination due to handling during drug deals and the use of rolled up bills for snorting.

Residual contamination in antineoplastic drug packaging
Journal of Oncology Pharmacy Practice, 2023Introduction The handling of antineoplastic drugs should follow strict supervision and safety rules to minimize the occupational exposure risks to professionals involved. The external surface contamination of drug vials is recognized as a health risk. So, our goal was to determine if there is residual contamination on the vials and containers surface ...

Illicit drugs, a novel group of environmental contaminants
Water Research, 2008It is now well established that residues from therapeutic drugs consumed by humans can end up, through the sewage system, in the surface water of populated areas. Given that the global production of major illicit drugs is comparable to that of widely used pharmaceuticals, we tested for the presence of drugs of abuse (cocaine, opioids, amphetamines and ...

High on pollution: drugs as environmental contaminants
Journal of Environmental Monitoring, 2003Environmental protection has advanced in leaps and bounds over recent years and today we undoubtedly live in a much cleaner world than we did a generation ago. But look closely and all is not what it seems. Rather than reducing pollution, we are, in fact, still bathed in a sea of chemicals.
