Telomerase Assay Using Biotinylated-Primer Extension and Magnetic Separation of the Products

open access: yesBioTechniques, 1998
Human telomerase, a ribonucleoprotein enzyme, is known to be associated with immortalized cancer cells but is absent in most normal tissues. Thus, telomerase appears to be an attractive new target for anticancer agents and an important diagnostic marker ...

Integrated genomic and proteomic profiling reveals insights into chemoradiation resistance in cervical cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A comprehensive genomic and proteomic analysis of cervical cancer revealed STK11 and STX3 as a potential biomarkers of chemoradiation resistance. Our study demonstrated EGFR as a therapeutic target, paving the way for precision strategies to overcome treatment failure and the DNA repair pathway as a critical mechanism of resistance.

Generation of cynomolgus monkey capsid-specific positive control cells for IFNγ ELISpot assays for adeno-associated gene therapy applications

open access: yesJournal of Immunotoxicology
Cell-mediated immune (CMI) responses to adeno-associated virus (AAV) can lead to tissue damage and loss of therapeutic transgene expression. Identifying robust biomarkers and mechanisms of CMI can aid clinical practice and advancement of AAV gene ...

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Fevogrit, a polyherbal medicine, mitigates endotoxin (lipopolysaccharide)‐induced fever in Wistar rats by regulating pro‐inflammatory cytokine levels

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine
Background Fever is characterized by an upregulation of the thermoregulatory set‐point after the body encounters any pathological challenge. It is accompanied by uncomfortable sickness behaviors and may be harmful in patients with other comorbidities. We

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.
