Design of hybrid gels based on gellan-cholesterol derivative and P90G liposomes for drug depot applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Gels are extensively studied in the drug delivery field because of their potential benefits in therapeutics. Depot gel systems fall in this area, and the interest in their development has been focused on long-lasting, biocompatible, and resorbable ...

Rad27/FEN1 prevents accumulation of Okazaki fragments and ribosomal DNA copy number changes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The budding yeast Rad27 is a structure‐specific endonuclease. Here, the authors reveal that Rad27 is crucial for maintaining the stability of the ribosomal RNA gene (rDNA) region. Rad27 deficiency leads to the accumulation of Okazaki fragments and changes in rDNA copy number.

Compression-coated pulsatile chronomodulated therapeutic system: QbD assisted optimization

open access: yesDrug Delivery, 2022
Pulsatile drug delivery systems have drawn attention in contemporary research for designing chronotherapeutic systems. The current work aims to design pulsatile ketorolac tromethamine tablets using compression coating for delayed delivery with a lag time

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Methods of Assessment and Clinical Relevance of QT Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The dependence on heart rate of the QT interval has been investigated for many years and several mathematical formulae have been proposed to describe the QT interval/heart rate (or QT interval/RR interval) relationship. While the most popular is Bazett’s

The role and implications of mammalian cellular circadian entrainment

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At their most fundamental level, mammalian circadian rhythms occur inside every individual cell. To tell the correct time, cells must align (or ‘entrain’) their circadian rhythm to the external environment. In this review, we highlight how cells entrain to the major circadian cues of light, feeding and temperature, and the implications this has for our

The immune checkpoint expression in the tumor immune microenvironment of DLBCL: Clinicopathologic features and prognosis

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2022
Background & aimsThe immune checkpoint recently provides a new strategy for the immunotherapy of malignant tumors. However, the role in the immune microenvironment of DLBCL is not completely clear.MethodsWe detected the expression of PD-1, LAG-3, TIM-

The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

Cutting-Edge: Preclinical and Clinical Development of the First Approved Lag-3 Inhibitor

open access: yesCells, 2022
Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have revolutionized medical practice in oncology since the FDA approval of the first ICI 11 years ago. In light of this, Lymphocyte-Activation Gene 3 (LAG-3) is one of the most important next-generation immune ...
