Prescription and use of “equivalent” drugs

open access: yesClinical Management Issues, 2007
Three case reports, where an “equivalent” drugs is prescribed, are described: a patient treated with lanzoprazole, a man with acute myocardial infarction and a young man with epilepsy. These reports are emblematic of the doubts and problems that doctors have to afford in the choice of a generic drug instead of a branded drug.

Surface Wrinkling of Plasma‐Exposed PDMS is Caused by Water Vapor Sorption: An Optical Environmental Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Wrinkling of soft materials, such as polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), underpins a myriad of technologies. Plasma‐oxidation of PDMS induces spontaneous wrinkling, which is canonically attributed to thermal expansion‐contraction of bilayers. Employing experiments and modelling, it is demonstrated that sorption of water vapor is instead responsible for ...

Lipid Nanoparticle‐Mediated CRISPR‐Cas13a Delivery for the Control of Bacterial Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 7, March 14, 2025.
New formulations of lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) that can deliver nucleic acids to Gram‐negative bacteria are proposed to combat bacterial infection. The delivery of nucleic acids by LNPs is aided by LNP‐helpers which weaken the bacterial outer membrane. LNPs encapsulating the Cas13a/gRNA expression vector achieve an antibacterial effect in both in vivo ...
