Provocation Tests in a Chlormezanone-Induced Fixed Drug Eruption

DICP, 1991
Although as few as seven cases of fixed drug eruption (FDE) due to chlormezanone have been reported, it should not be overlooked as a cause of FDE. To identify the causative agent in FDEs, topical provocation tests are much safer and more convenient than systemic provocation tests.

Evaluation of drug provocation test–related anxiety in patients with drug hypersensitivity

Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, 2016
Drug provocation tests (DPTs) are important in the treatment of patients with drug hypersensitivity (DH), but they carry certain hypersensitivity reaction risks, which lead to procedure-related concerns in patients. To investigate DPT-related anxiety and its effect on long-term use of tested drugs. The study included patients who underwent DPT from July ...

Data‐driven step doses for drug provocation tests to nonsteroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs

Allergy, 2020
AbstractIntroductionHypersensitivity to nonsteroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) is of great concern because they are frequently encountered in daily clinical practice. Drug provocation tests (DPTs) are particularly needed for NSAIDs.MethodsThe aim of this retrospective study was to detect eliciting dose thresholds during NSAIDs DPT in order to ...

Drug provocation testing in the diagnosis of drug hypersensitivity reactions: general considerations

Allergy, 2003
A drug provocation test (DPT) is the controlled administration of a drug in order to diagnose drug hypersensitivity reactions. DPTs are performed under medical surveillance, whether this drug is an alternative compound, or structurally/pharmacologically related, or the suspected drug itself. DPT is sometimes termed controlled challenge or reexposure (1)

[Expert consensus on drug provocation test].

Zhonghua yu fang yi xue za zhi [Chinese journal of preventive medicine], 2020
Drug allergy(DA) is a common clinical allergic disease, and drug provocation tests(DPT) are currently recognized internationally as the "gold standard" for diagnosing drug allergy, but this diagnostic program has not been widely developed in China. The lack of diagnosis of drug allergy increases the risk of medication in clinical, and who also leads to

Opioid Hypersensitivity: Predictors of Allergy and Role of Drug Provocation Testing

The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology: In Practice, 2017
True IgE-mediated hypersensitivity to opioids is rare and many reactions are due to direct mast cell degranulation. Opioid drug provocation testing (DPT) is the gold standard for diagnosis but is underutilized. The objective of this study was to evaluate the clinical characteristics and predictors of opioid hypersensitivity, as well as outcomes of ...

Is a Prolonged Drug Provocation Test Better Than a Single-Day Drug Provocation Test? A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology: In Practice
There is currently no standardized duration of drug provocation test (DPT) for confirming/delabeling beta-lactam hypersensitivity reaction (BL-HSR).This meta-analysis and systematic review aimed to investigate the added diagnostic value of extended-day over single-day DPT for confirming/delabeling BL-HSR in adults and children. The MEDLINE, EMBASE, Web ...

Drug Provocation Tests: positivity and safety

2010
Objective: Drug provocation test (DPT) is considered the gold standard to establish the diagnosis of adverse drug reactions (ADR). We analyzed DPTs results and we discuss severe systemic reactions to them. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on medical record of 500 patients with ADR history between January of 2005 and April of 2009 ...

Class 1 anti-arrhythmic drug provocation test

2019
The Brugada syndrome is associated with potentially lethal arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death. The diagnosis is made from the surface ECG. In suspicious but not typical ECGs, intravenous administration of class 1 anti-arrhythmic drugs (i.e. sodium channel blocking agents such as ajmaline, flecainide, or procainamide) can be performed for diagnostic ...
