On the Origins of Toughness in Corymbia calophylla (Marri Tree) Nuts
We uncover the natural toughening mechanisms of the marri nut, including fiber pullout, crack deflection, and a viscoelastic matrix, which enable exceptional energy absorption and ductility comparable to Teflon, with an elastic modulus similar to acrylic.

A new species of Peckia (Diptera: Sarcophagidae) from Costa Rica : with a note on P. pexata (Wulp) [PDF]
A new species of Peckia Robineau-Desvoidy is described from the coastal dry forest of Guanacaste Province, Costa Rica, viz., Pechia glyphis sp.n., and a key to the ten species of Peckia known from the area is provided.

We identify a Lepidoptera‐conserved testis‐specific arylalkylamine N‐acetyltransferase (LTNAT) that governs male moth fertility via a novel mechanism. LTNAT loss disrupts eupyrene sperm mitochondrial derivatives and impairs apyrene sperm motility, offering a safe molecular target for innovative pesticides and genetic pest control.

This study reveals that maternal antibiotic exposure prior to conception disrupts intergenerational gut microbial succession. By enhancing maternal‐offspring microbial transmission, altering microbial developmental trajectories and increasing selective pressures during community assembly, these disturbances lead to persistent gut mucosal immaturity and

Daytime turbulent exchange between the Amazon forest and the atmosphere [PDF]
Detailed observations of turbulence just above and below the crown of the Amazon rain forest during the wet season are presented. The forest canopy is shown to remove high frequency turbulent fluctuations while passing lower frequencies.

Coupled Above‐ and Belowground Ecosystem Stability Worldwide
Are the worlds above and below our feet in sync? This global exploration reveals an entangled fate between above‐ and belowground ecosystem stability. It identifies arid regions as hotspots for this coupling and highlights temperature stability as a vital safeguard for maintaining ecosystem balance across our warming planet.
