Friction Laws for Elastic Nano-Scale Contacts
The effect of surface curvature on the law relating frictional forces F with normal load L is investigated by molecular dynamics simulations as a function of surface symmetry, adhesion, and contamination.

Oedometric test, Bauer's law and the micro-macro connection for a dry sand [PDF]
What is the relationship between the macroscopic parameters of the constitutive equation for a granular soil and the microscopic forces between grains? In order to investigate this connection, we have simulated by molecular dynamics the oedometric compression of a granular soil (a dry and bad-graded sand) and computed the hypoplastic parameters $h_s ...

Integrative Approaches for DNA Sequence‐Controlled Functional Materials
DNA is emerging as a programmable building block for functional materials with applications in biomimicry, biochemical, and mechanical information processing. The integration of simulations, experiments, and machine learning is explored as a means to bridge DNA sequences with macroscopic material properties, highlighting current advances and providing ...

Extreme event statistics of daily rainfall: Dynamical systems approach
We analyse the probability densities of daily rainfall amounts at a variety of locations on the Earth. The observed distributions of the amount of rainfall fit well to a q-exponential distribution with exponent q close to q=1.3.

A spatiotemporal plasma–mediated laser processing approach is developed to fabricate ultrahigh–aspect ratio nanochannel arrays and corresponding perovskite nanowire arrays within transparent materials for optoelectronics devices. The laser‐fabricated nanochannels serve as templates for controlled perovskite infiltration and crystallization, enabling ...

The mean and variance of ecological measures usually follow a power-law relationship, referred to as Taylor's power law (TPL). Leaves are important organs for photosynthesis, and leaf size is closely related to photosynthetic potential.

Atomic simulations of kinetic friction and its velocity dependence at Al/Al and alpha-Al_2O_3/alpha-Al_2O_3 interfaces [PDF]
Kinetic friction during dry sliding along atomistic-scale Al(001)/Al(001) and alpha-Al2O3(0001)/alpha-Al2O3(0001) interfaces has been investigated using molecular dynamics (MD) with recently developed Reactive Force Fields (ReaxFF).

The cGAS‐STING pathway boosts HCC antitumor immunity but lacks specific activation. Nanoplatform ZMRPF induces HCC ferroptosis via lipid ROS, releasing mtDNA. It synergizes with ZMRPF‐released Mn2⁺ to activate cGAS‐STING, amplifies antigen‐presenting cell activity, reverses HCC immunosuppression, and enables robust systemic antitumor immunity ...

Topological van der Waals contacts represent a new class of electrodes for 2D semiconductors, enabling precise control of the Schottky barrier height (SBH) and contact resistance (RC) through interlayer distance and orbital hybridization engineering. In Se‐based transition metal dichalcogenides, these contacts achieve an ultralow SBH of 7 meV, RC of 0.
