Dry machining of brass using titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coated tool
Dry machining is environmentally friendly, clean and safe to be performed. Regardless of decreasing tool life due to lack of lubricants, choosing dry machining over wet machining may be a wiser choice since the cost of purchasing and disposing the ...

Thermal Loads and Surface Quality Evaluation in Machining of Hardened Die Steel under Dry and Cryogenic Machining [PDF]
AISI H13 die steel is widely used in different industries because of its especial properties. During the machining of hard materials, some of the mechanical properties of the material are changed due to the generation of intensive thermo-mechanical loads

Aluminum and nitride coatings are used in industry because they are hard, resist wear, and protect against oxidation. Adding boron can improve friction behavior and other properties. This study tests coatings on surfaces with different finishes. Results show smoother surfaces perform better, while rough ones wear faster, although coatings can reduce ...

On-machine Tool Resharpening for Dry Machining of Aluminum Alloys
AbstractThe present study proposes a novel strategy for removing the adhesion layer from the tool surface and recovering the cutting tool performance without detaching the cutting tool from the machine tool; namely, an on-machine tool resharpening process, in order to address the issues related to the dry machining of aluminum alloys.

Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.

Analysis of wear mechanism in TPU-steel contact pair by means of long stroke tribometer tests [PDF]
A complete wear characterisation of a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) sliding against steel is presented. Wear tests were performed using a long stroke tribometer under sliding reciprocating movement and dry conditions.

This study applies machine learning regression to predict chromium layer thickness in decorative trivalent chromium electroplating, using 441 experiments from laboratory‐scale (1L) and pilot‐scale (14L) setups. Tree‐based models, particularly CatBoost, outperformed linear regression by capturing nonlinear parameter interactions (R2$R^2$ up to 0.77 ...

Sol–gel‐derived ZnO–rGO hybrid nanoparticles enable Al7075 powder‐metallurgy composites to achieve concurrent gains in hardness and thermal conductivity while markedly lowering friction and wear. The hybrid architecture couples ZnO‐based load support with rGO‐assisted lamellar sliding and heat spreading, revealing a promising route toward lightweight ...
