Response of Dry Matter Accumulation in Maize to Temperature: I. Dry Matter Partitioning

Crop Science, 1989
Dry matter partitioning during early phases of development has potentially a large impact on crop growth, but the effect of partitioning on dry matter accumulation has never been quantified. This study was conducted to quantify the response of dry matter partitioning in maize (Zea mays L.) to temperature during the period from planting to the 12‐leaf ...

Dry matter of swedes. I

The Journal of Agricultural Science, 1926
1. Sampling of single roots of swedes by means of cores is subject to errors of various kinds, of which one, due to the asymmetrical growth of the root in a north-south direction, has previously been overlooked. Cores should be taken horizontally in a north-south direction.2.

Partitioning of dry matter by the tomato

Journal of Horticultural Science, 1972
SummaryThe partitioning of the dry matter of the tomato plant between roots, stem, cotyledons, leaves and reproductive tissue under glasshouse conditions is described for the first 3 to 4 months during the winter and spring. Four developmental stages are distinguished with different patterns of partitioning.

Cavitation in Drying Droplets of Soft Matter Solutions

Physical Review Letters, 2014
When a droplet of a soft matter solution is dried, cavities are often formed in the droplet, giving a hollow sphere in the end. A theoretical model is given for this phenomenon. It is shown that the formation of a gel-like layer (skin layer), which has a finite shear modulus, is essential for the phenomenon to take place.

YIELD OF DRY MATTER, IN VITRO-DIGESTIBLE DRY MATTER AND CRUDE PROTEIN OF FORAGES

Canadian Journal of Plant Science, 1967
Pure stands of alfalfa, bromegrass, orchardgrass and timothy, each represented by two varieties differing in maturity and/or plant type, were harvested weekly during their first crop growth in 1961, 1962, and 1963.All forages consistently increased in dry matter yield until approximately the early-seed stage. Differences in rate of growth, development

Dry Matter and Protein Degradability of Leucaena

Proceedings of the British Society of Animal Production (1972), 1994
There are major limitations imposed on animal production in tropical areas of the world. Some of the limitations are caused by the lack of availability of protein for animal consumption. This lack of dietary protein can be attributed to lack of pasture because of adverse environmental conditions, overgrazing which can lead to erosion and thus a poorer ...
