Effects of Organic Manure and Other Nitrogen Substitutes on Spring Maize Growth, Yield, and Water and Fertilizer Utilization Efficiency

open access: yesShuitu Baochi Xuebao
[Objective] This study was aimed to investigate the effects of organic manure replacing chemical fertilizer with equal nitrogen under different nitrogen application rates on the growth, yield and water-fertilizer use efficiency of spring maize in the dry

Effect of sowing date on dry matter accumulation in two-rowed winter barley [PDF]

open access: yesSelekcija i Semenarstvo, 2018
Information about dry matter accumulation is of great importance for further increase of barley yield. Various nonlinear and linear curves have been used to describe vegetative and reproductive growth for a number of agricultural crops.

Biomass production and accumulation of nutrients in shoots of Giant Guinea sorghum plants. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Choosing species with high phytomass production to be cropped in no tillage system is extremely important in dry winter regions. The purpose of this research was to study plant biomass production and accumulation of nutrients in shoots of Giant Guinea ...

Influence of crop geometry on yield, yield attributes and glycoside yield of Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Field experiments were conducted in a loamy sand soil during 2006 and 2007 at Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana to evaluate the performance of Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni under varying planting geometry.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Effects of nitrogen fertilizer on the accumulation and allocation of dry matter and nitrogen for maize cultivars with different low nitrogen tolerance

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2015
Nitrogen is a major limiting factor on plant growth and yield formation, and a moderate amount of nitrogen fertilizers can increase crop yields every year. The tolerance to low N-fertilized level is different among maize cultivars, meanwhile the response

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

MACRONUTRIENTS ABSORPTION AND DRY MATTER ACCUMULATION IN MAIZE

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Milho e Sorgo, 2009
This work aimed to evaluate dry matter (DM) and nutrient accumulation in the aerial parts of corn plants as a function of the phenological stages of plant development, using one hybrid with high grain yield potential (P 30F33) and another with high DM production potential (GNZ 2004).
