EFFECTS OF TEMPERATURE ON RATE AND DURATION OF KERNEL DRY MATTER ACCUMULATION OF MAIZE

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Plant Science, 1988
The response of rate and duration of kernel dry matter accumulation to temperatures in the range 10–25 °C was studied for two maize (Zea mays L.) hybrids grown under controlled-environment conditions. Kernel growth rates during the period of linear kernel growth increased linearly with temperature (b = 0.3 mg kernel−1 d−1 °C−1).

Effects of Calcium Application Rate on Dry Matter Accumulation and Yield of Peanut [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The effects of calcium application rate on dry matter accumulation and yield of peanut were studied under high-yielding field condition. The variety used for the study was Tang A8252 (Spanish peanut). The results showed that number of full fruit, dry weight per plant, kernel yield, and pod yield all increased with calcium application increased, and ...

Comparative growth, dry matter accumulation and photosynthetic rate of seven species of Eucalypt in response to phosphorus supply

open access: yesJournal of Forestry Research, 2014
Plantations of eucalypts as short-rotation tree crops are rapidly expanding in tropical and sub-tropical regions, including southern China, where the soils are acidic and available phosphorus (P) is limited. We investigated seedling growth, dry matter accumulation, and the dynamics of photosynthetic rate and chlorophyll content of seven Eucalyptus ...

Rice dry matter and nitrogen accumulation, soil mineral N around root and N leaching, with increasing application rates of fertilizer

European Journal of Agronomy, 2013
Abstract Rice morphology and N leaching, together with mineral N in the soil and soil solution around root, were determined at different growth stages in a 3-year experiment located in the Taihu Lake region, China. The results showed that the N application rates had little impact on the soil mineral N around root, but increased the dry matter and N ...

RATE AND DURATION OF DRY MATTER ACCUMULATION IN RELATION TO KERNEL SHRIVELLING IN TRITICALE

Canadian Journal of Plant Science, 1978
Several lines of triticale (X Triticosecale Wittmack), varying in their degree of shrivelling, were grown in the field. The ratio of the final seed volume to the maximum volume attained during development was used as a measure of shrivelling. Shrivelling was correlated with total dry matter in the seed, but not with its maximum size. When rates of dry
