Strategies for the optimization of cow dry period

open access: yes, 2017
Dairy cows need a dry period between lactations in order to achieve high production levels on the next lactation. During the dry period, specially in high-productive animals, the mammary gland is more susceptible to contract infections that produce discomfort to the animal and economical losses to the farmer.

Myogenic Fusogen‐Engineered Lipid Nanoparticles Enhance mRNA Delivery in Skeletal Muscle

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports a biomimetic strategy of engineering full‐length Myomaker, a muscle‐specific fusogen, into lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) to harness the native myoblast fusion capability for skeletal muscle mRNA delivery. The resulting Mymk‐LNPs enhance transfection in differentiating myocytes and enable Cre‐mediated reporter activation in injured ...

Hydrogel‐Based 3D‐Printed Anthropomorphic Breast Phantom for Emulating Mechanical and Dielectric Properties of Mammary Tissue. Applications in Microwave Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printable breast phantom is developed using patient‐derived MRI data and hydrogels that replicate the dielectric properties of healthy and cancerous tissues. Mechanical and dielectric characterization confirm its suitability for microwave imaging.
