Racial Equity in State Funding for Community Colleges

open access: yesNew Directions for Community Colleges, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT States vary significantly in both the amount of funding they allocate to community colleges and the mechanisms they use to distribute these funds (Kelchen et al., 2024; Mullin et al., 2015; State Higher Education Executive Officers, 2025). One major source of variation in state's approaches to funding community colleges is whether and how they

Graphene Materials for Sustainable Energy Applications: A Contemporary Perspective

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Graphene has garnered significant attention as a promising material with great potential for contributing to sustainable energy initiatives, such as RE100 (100% renewable energy initiative) and CF100 (100% carbon‐free initiative). This review aims to explore the potential of graphene for advancing renewable energy applications by highlighting

Infinite Functional Versatility, Formidable Limits: Evaluating Gallium‐Based Liquid Metals in Rechargeable Batteries

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
Beyond the hype surrounding the self‐healing properties of gallium‐based liquid metals (Ga‐LMs), this perspective critically examines their functional roles in metal‐ion batteries, highlighting both their underlying merits and the often‐overlooked challenges, including non‐representative design and testing configurations, performance overestimations ...

Interface‐Engineered Li–Ni–O/Ni Heterostructures With Tunable Vacancies on Biochar Enable Biomass‐to‐Hydrogen Conversion

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
This study shows that lithium induces Li–Ni–O/Ni heterostructures on biochar, creating oxygen vacancies and optimal acid–base environments that enhance steam activation and suppress carbon deposition. These interfacial effects and synergistic modulation lead to high hydrogen yields at moderate temperatures, providing a scalable catalyst design strategy
