Impact of wetting/drying cycles on the hydromechanical behaviour of a treated soil [PDF]
The positive effects of lime or cement treatment could be altered by weathering in the very long term. In this context, the main purpose of this study is to examine the impact of wetting/drying cycles on the strength and the hydraulic conductivity of a ...

Relationships between leaf and root area indices and soil suction induced during drying-wetting cycles [PDF]
The stability and serviceability of geotechnical infrastructure may be affected by plant-induced soil suction during drying-wetting cycles, because an increase in suction would reduce hydraulic conductivity and also increase shear strength.

PARP inhibitors induce a senescence phenotype in non‐small cell lung carcinoma cell lines
Talazoparib is the most potent inducer of senescence among different PARP1 inhibitors in human NSCLC cells. In the absence of PARP, no senescence phenotype was observed, demonstrating that PARP1 is necessary for the induction of senescence by this inhibitor.

Triaxial shear behavior of basalt fiber reinforced loess under drying−wetting cycles
In this paper, the digital image based triaxial shear test, computed tomography (CT) scanning test and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) test were employed to investigate triaxial shear behavior and microstructure evolution of basalt fiber reinforced ...

ABSTRACT Objective Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) is one of the most debilitating and common muscular dystrophies. Despite its severity, no approved therapy exists for FSHD patients. However, several therapeutic candidates are currently under development, and some have recently entered clinical trials, marking the need for reliable ...

It is commonly accepted that wetting–drying cycles have an effect on the soil strength behavior. Crack development in soil is observed by many engineers during wetting–drying cycles, which may give a good explanation for the change in soil strength.

Investigating soil-water retention characteristics at high suctions using Relative Humidity control [PDF]
A technique for controlling relative humidity (RH) is presented, which involves supplying a sealed chamber with a continuous flow of air at a computer-regulated RH.
