IPM for Drywood Termites (Isoptera: Kalotermitidae)1
Journal of Entomological Science, 2003The foundation of IPM for drywood termites (Isoptera: Kalotermitidae) has academic and industry origins some extending back several decades. Regardless of the origin, the underlying philosophy of IPM for drywood termites is consistent and includes correct identification of the pest, monitoring its activity, and use of a variety of treatment methods ...

Feeding Preferences of the Drywood Termite,Cryptotermes brevis
Environmental Entomology, 1973Feeding preference order of micropterous Cryptotermes brevis Walker nymphs in homogeneous laminates of paired sapwood pieces was balsa > western redcedar > Douglas-fir > southern yellow pine by volume consumed, and cedar > fir > balsa > pine by weight consumed. Only pine was consumed in significantly less quantities both by volume and weight.

Termites and Standard Norms in Wood Protection: A Proposal Targeting Drywood Termites
2017A standard is a technical document approved by a recognized certification body at national or international level, which defines and unifies the characteristics and specifications of a process, product or service, to ensure quality and safe, reliable performances in respect to environment. The use of international standards allows to remove barriers to

Performance of Treated Surfaces Against Western Drywood Termites, 1980
Insecticide and Acaricide Tests, 1982Abstract The objective of these tests was to determine if various types of paints and wood preservatives would prevent drywood termite penetration or feeding on treated wood surfaces and paper. Western drywood termites, Incisitermes minor (Hagen), were removed from infested sycamore and walnut logs collected in the Riverside vicinity ...

Foraging choice and replacement reproductives facilitate invasiveness in drywood termites
Biological Invasions, 2010All highly cryptic drywood termites derive their food and water from a single piece of wood. Despite the fact that most species share the same life cycles, only a few have become invasive tramp species. Variation in production of replacement reproductives and food size choice were determined for nine species of the important drywood genus Cryptotermes ...

Drywood termite feeding deterrents in sugar pine and antitermitic activity of related compounds
Journal of Chemical Ecology, 1983The feeding deterrent activity of sapwood extracts of sugar pine,Pinus lambertiana Dougl., and related compounds was determined against immatures of the western drywood termite,Incisitermes minor (Hagen). A bioassay was designed to quantify reductions in termite feeding caused by deterrent chemicals.
