Conspecific Scaffold‐Level Genome Assembly Outperforms Heterospecific Chromosome‐Level Assemblies for Assessing Genetic Indicators in a Threatened Marine Fish

open access: yesEvolutionary Applications, Volume 19, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Understanding the genomic architecture of species of conservation concern is essential for fostering effective conservation initiatives. Current biodiversity assessment approaches increasingly incorporate genetic metrics to evaluate the status of species and populations of conservation interest.

|DTA thermograms of the four 1st order models were calculated with the difference equations. Effects of DTA thermograms by various parameters were studied.

Intrinsic Hardness Evolution and Indentation Size Effect Modeling in Cu/Co Doped ZnO, TiO2, and SnO2

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Metal oxides such as ZnO, TiO2, and SnO2 are widely used in structural and functional applications; however, their micromechanical performance is often limited by pronounced indentation size effects and surface‐related deformation behavior.

Enhancing the Reactivity of Dicalcium Silicate Using Aluminum and Sulfur Ions Co‐Doping

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Belite‐rich cements are a lower‐energy and lower‐CO2 alternative to Portland cements, but the low hydraulic activity of belite remains a major limitation. This study explores the impact of aluminum and sulfur co‐doping on the structure and hydration of synthetic dicalcium silicate (C2S).

Equipped for success: genomes and metabolomes of the European Amanita muscaria are conserved in its novel South African range

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 250, Issue 3, Page 1863-1883, May 2026.
Summary Plants and soils have been moved around the world for centuries, but invasive mushrooms receive scant attention. The Amanita muscaria species complex was introduced to South Africa in the context of forestry, but its origins, ecology and recent evolution are unstudied. We sequenced the genomes of 24 Northern and Southern Hemisphere A. muscaria,
