Physicochemical Properties and In Vitro Antioxidant Activity Characterization of Protein Hydrolysates Obtained from Pumpkin Seeds Using Conventional and Ultrasound-Assisted Enzymatic Hydrolysis

open access: yesFoods
Pumpkin seed proteins (PSPs) are a promising resource for obtaining bioactive peptides but their low solubility hinders enzymatic hydrolysis, reducing yield and bioactivity. In addition, enzymatic processes require specific conditions and long processing

A Trypsin‐Like Serine Protease ZmNAL1a Fine‐Tunes Maize Floral Transition and Flowering Time

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies a trypsin‐like serine protease, ZmNAL1a, that moves from leaves to the shoot apical meristem. ZmNAL1a promotes the floral transition by degrading TOPLESS‐like corepressor REL2, which thereby enhances the expression of key flowering genes through elevating histone acetylation and relieving REL2–ZmEREBP147‐mediated transcriptional ...

Steady state analysis of Chua's circuit with RLCG transmission line [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
In this paper we present a new technique to compute the steady state response of nonlinear autonomous circuits with RLCG transmission lines. Using multipoint Pade approximants, instead of the commonly used expansions around s=0 or s/spl rarr//spl infin ...

Label‐Free Molecular Characterization of Protein Aggregates in Differentiated Astrocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mid‐infrared photothermal microscopy enables label‐free structural, molecular, and functional imaging of protein aggregates in astrocyte cells. The processes of astrocytes differentiated on a nanomaterial interface are characterized by α‐helical signatures combined with enhanced interfacial thermal resistance properties, while the cell soma of non ...

Proton Tautomerism for Anhydrous Superprotonic Conduction in 1,2,3‐Triazolium Dihydrogen Phosphate Crystal

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
This study investigates the contribution of proton tautomerism to solid‐state proton conduction and achieves isotropic superprotonic conduction in acid–base single crystals. Specifically, low‐barrier isotropic superprotonic conductivity exceeding 10−3 S cm−1 is achieved in a cocrystal of 1,2,3‐triazole and phosphoric acid.

Microstructure evaluation, thermal and mechanical characterization of hybrid metal matrix composite

open access: yesScience and Engineering of Composite Materials, 2018
In this paper, an inert gas assisted electromagnetic stir casting process is adapted for manufacturing a cast hybrid metal matrix composite (MMC) using Al2O3 and SiC particulates as a hard phase reinforcement in Al 7075 alloy metal matrix. Four different

Differential regulation of bile acid and cholesterol metabolism by the farnesoid X receptor in Ldlr −/− mice versus hamsters[S]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2013
Modulating bile acid synthesis has long been considered a good strategy by which to improve cholesterol homeostasis in humans. The farnesoid X receptor (FXR), the key regulator of bile acid synthesis, was, therefore, identified as an interesting target ...

The Fate of the Universe: Dark Energy Dilution? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We study the possibility that dark energy decays in the future and the universe stops accelerating. The fact thatthe cosmological observations prefer an equation of state of dark energy smaller than -1 can be a signal that dark energy will decay in the ...

Inside the Microreactor: In Situ Real‐Time Observation of Vapor–Liquid–Solid Growth of Monolayer TMDCs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In situ observation of VLS growth in a confined microreactor reveals various growth modes of monolayer TMDCs, including abnormal ribbon growth and particle‐driven growth. The confined space and precursor balance influence droplet behavior and growth dynamics, offering new insights into the controlled synthesis of TMDCs via the VLS mechanism.
