Message fragmentation in opportunistic DTNs [PDF]

open access: yes2008 International Symposium on a World of Wireless, Mobile and Multimedia Networks, 2008
Delay-tolerant networking is used for communication in challenged environments such as MANETs, in which links are unstable and end-to-end paths between communicating nodes may not exist. Messages may be significantly larger than packets in IP networks.

Forward and Adjoint Calculations of Gravitational Potential in Heterogeneous, Aspherical Planets

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract We have developed a computational package for the calculation of numerically exact internal and external gravitational potential, its functional derivatives and sensitivity kernels, in an aspherical, heterogeneous planet. We detail our implementation, utilizing a transformation of the Poisson equation into a spherical reference domain, as well

Hydrogels Incorporating Donor–Acceptor Stenhouse Adducts as a Platform for Photoinduced, On‐Off Switchable Release of Small Molecule Cargos

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, Volume 47, Issue 8, 17 April 2026.
Donor–acceptor Stenhouse aDdducts (DASAs) are known for their photoinduced tautomerization, which, when conjugated to block copolymers, can self‐assemble into tuneable polymersomes. These DASA‐polymersomes are being investigated for light‐controlled cargo release in biomedical applications.

Comparison of two numerical weather prediction models in simulating south foehn in the Alpine Rhine Valley

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, Volume 152, Issue 777, April 2026 Part B.
ICON outperforms COSMO in simulating a south foehn event in the Alpine Rhine Valley, with improved accuracy in temperature, wind speed, and foehn timing. This enhanced performance likely results from a more accurate representation of surface energy balance and gravity wave pattern on the lee side of the mountain.

Store-and-Forward Performance in a DTN [PDF]

open access: yes2006 IEEE 63rd Vehicular Technology Conference, 2006
Delay and disruption tolerant networks have been proposed to address data communication challenges in network scenarios where an instantaneous end-to-end path between a source and destination may not exist, and the links between nodes may be opportunistic, predictably connectable, or periodically-(dis)connected. In this paper, we describe the store-and-

Production of a buttermilk fraction with high antioxidant activity using enzymatic hydrolysis and ultrafiltration in a membrane bioreactor

open access: yesInternational Journal of Dairy Technology, Volume 79, Issue 2, April–June 2026.
Sequential enzymatic hydrolysis and ultrafiltration of buttermilk significantly increased antioxidant activity, effectively valorising this dairy by‐product into a functional ingredient. Background, Context, or Rationale Buttermilk, a by‐product of butter production, contains proteins with encrypted bioactive peptides that may display antioxidant ...

DTN-Meteo: Forecasting the Performance of DTN Protocols Under Heterogeneous Mobility

open access: yesIEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, 2015
Opportunistic or delay-tolerant networks (DTNs) may be used to enable communication in case of failure or lack of infrastructure (disaster, censorship, remote areas) and to complement existing wireless technologies (cellular, WiFi). Wireless peers communicate when in contact, forming an impromptu network, whose connectivity graph is highly dynamic and ...

Atomic and Electronic Structures and Glass Formation of La4Ti9O24 Glass From First‐Principles Molecular Dynamics

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 4, April 2026.
High‐refractive index La4Ti9O24 glass synthesized by a levitation technique was analyzed using first‐principles molecular dynamics combined with diffraction and electronic‐structure calculations. The simulations reveal dense atomic packing with highly coordinated Ti polyhedra and reproduce experimental X‐ray and neutron correlations as well as optical ...

Simulant molten core–concrete interaction experiments in view of understanding Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station Cs-bearing particles generation mechanism

open access: yesScientific Reports
The Fukushima Daiichi accident resulted in the release of a novel form of radioactive Cs contamination into the environment, called Cs-bearing microparticles (CsMP).
