Fault analysis of dual active bridge converters

IECON 2012 - 38th Annual Conference on IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2012
The reliability of bidirectional dc-dc converters is a critical issue in many applications where the power flows from or to energy storage systems regularly, such as automotive applications and standalone power systems. This paper addresses dual active bridge converters faulty operation and proposes a fault detection method.

Battery Emulation Using Dual-Active Bridge Converter

2019 National Power Electronics Conference (NPEC), 2019
A Battery Emulator(BE) is a platform that can mimic the behavior of an actual battery in real-time. In a typical BE system, a discretized battery model running on a digital platform controls a power interface hardware capable of transferring power to a device connected to it.

An improved dual active bridge DC/DC converter

2001 IEEE 32nd Annual Power Electronics Specialists Conference (IEEE Cat. No.01CH37230), 2002
This paper proposes a novel control scheme for a dual active bridge (DAB) DC/DC converter. The proposed control scheme eliminates the large feedback energy problem existing in previous DAB converters and achieves ZVZCS of all switches. The efficiency and output capacitor current ripple are improved.

Parasitic Resistance Effect on Dual Active Bridge Converter

IECON 2019 - 45th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2019
In this paper, the effect of the parasitic resistance on the operation of the dual active bridge (DAB) converter is investigated. Analytical equations of the input-output voltage characteristic for the single phase shift (SPS) and the triangular current (TC) modulation techniques, that consider the parasitic resistance on the secondary side, are ...

Analysis of parallel-serial dual active bridge converter

2014 International Power Electronics and Application Conference and Exposition, 2014
A parallel-serial dual active bridge (PSDAB) circuit is presented in the paper to improve the efficiency under the circumstances of high-voltage ratio transformation. The proposed PSDAB circuit is constructed by the paralleled low-voltage terminals of the two dual active bridges (DABs) and the serial high-voltage terminals of the DABs.

Circulating current mitigation in Dual Active Bridge converter

2015 IEEE 13th Brazilian Power Electronics Conference and 1st Southern Power Electronics Conference (COBEP/SPEC), 2015
This work brings forward a new methodology to maximize the efficiency of Dual Active Bridge (DAB) converter for its several patterns of operation. This goal is reached by the mitigation of its processed circulating energy. It is proposed a figure of merit which relates the average input current and the RMS current of the power transfer inductor, and an

Dual active bridge converter and its control

Isolated bidirectional DC–DC (IBDC) converters are needed in a wide range of applications including DC microgrids, electric vehicles, and energy storage devices. Among various IBDC topologies, the dual active bridge (DAB) converter is one of the most promising solutions owing to its simple and symmetric structure, the capability of zero-voltage ...

Three-phase dual active bridge converter design considerations

IECON 2017 - 43rd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2017
In three-phase dual-active-bridge (DAB) converter, the zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) range, DC capacitor ripple current and converter efficiency are significantly impacted by the selectable system parameters, including transformer turn ratio n, switching frequency f and leakage inductance L k .

Dual Active Bridge Synchronous Rectified Step-Down Converter

2018 International Power Electronics Conference (IPEC-Niigata 2018 -ECCE Asia), 2018
This paper presents a novel high-efficiency bidirectional zero-voltage-transition (ZVT) pulse-width-modulation (PWM) converter. By controlling the direction and timing of the resonant current injection, the main power switches can achieve zero voltage switching under various loads and various output voltage.
