Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Dual channel mixer [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
A precise vector voltmeter (Princeton Applied Research Model 129, operated in the two-phase lock-in amplifier mode) is used in a microwave power calibrating system to accurately measure the outputs of a network analyzer (Hewlett Packard Model 8410 with Model 8411A harmonic frequency converter and Model 8413A phase-gain indicator).

Dual Channel Stream Monitor [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Hydraulics Division, 1961
Monitor is ultrasonic instrument developed to monitor water surface and stream bed profiles simultaneously under dynamic conditions in alluvial channel, and was developed as laboratory tool; it is light weight, portable, fully transistorized and uses echo ranging principle to determine distances to reflecting surfaces; 2 piezoelectric transducers are ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Dual-Channel Supply Chain Pricing Decisions under Discounted Advertising Value

open access: yesSystems, 2022
Retailers advertise on different sales channels. When consumers buy online, the effectiveness of advertising is discounted because they cannot feel the product.

Transverse tripolar spinal cord stimulation: Theoretical performance of a dual channel system [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
A new approach to spinal cord stimulation is presented, by which several serious problems of conventional methods can be solved. A transverse tripolar electrode with a dual-channel voltage stimulator is evaluated theoretically by means of a volume ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Truly unentangled photon pairs without spectral filtering

open access: yes, 2017
We demonstrate that an integrated silicon microring resonator is capable of efficiently producing photon pairs that are completely unentangled; such pairs are a key component of heralded single photon sources.

Optical coherence tomography and scanning laser ophthalmoscopy: Approaches to dual-channel retinal tissue imaging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We report a Talbot bands-based optical coherence tomography (OCT) system capable of producing longitudinal B-scan OCT images and en-face scanning laser ophthalmoscopy (SLO) images of the human retina in-vivo, with various degrees of ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
