Dual-Energy CT in Oncologic Imaging

open access: yesTomography
Dual-energy CT (DECT) is an innovative technology that is increasingly widespread in clinical practice. DECT allows for tissue characterization beyond that of conventional CT as imaging is performed using different energy spectra that can help ...

Dual-Energy CT

open access: yes, 2020
Dual-energy CT (DECT) scan mode was introduced in 2006. It uses two different X-ray energy spectra simultaneously to obtain additional information on tissue composition [1].

Superlubricity and Corrosion Inhibition Properties of Solvate Ionic Liquids in Hybrid Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic–Steel Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Solvate ionic liquids lubrication reduced the coefficient of friction by ∼60% compared to dry sliding, reaching steady‐state values as low as 0.04–0.05. Corrosion weight‐loss measurements in 1 M HCl further demonstrated significant inhibition behavior, with only 100 ppm of [Li(G3)][TFSI] (∼68.5 μL/L) reducing corrosion‐product weight loss by 63 ...

Dual-Energy-CT for Osteitis and Fat Lesions in Axial Spondyloarthritis: How Feasible Is Low-Dose Scanning?

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2023
Background: To assess the ability of low-dose dual-energy computed tomography (ld-DECT) virtual non-calcium (VNCa) images for detecting bone marrow pathologies of the sacroiliac joints (SIJs) in patients with axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA). Material and

Simulation‐Based Analysis of Insert Pull‐Out in Nickel‐Polyurethane Hybrid Foams Using CT‐Derived Geometries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
CT‐based finite element simulations combined with in situ X‐ray computed tomography are used to analyze insert pull‐out in nickel‐coated polymer foams. Despite variations in material parameters, deformation consistently concentrates within a narrow annular region around the insert.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Biomass Native Structure Into Functional Carbon‐Based Catalysts for Fenton‐Like Reactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study indicates that eight biomasses with 2D flaky and 1D acicular structures influence surface O types, morphology, defects, N doping, sp2 C, and Co nanoparticles loading in three series of carbon, N‐doped carbon, and cobalt/graphitic carbon. This work identifies how these structural factors impact catalytic pathways, enhancing selective electron

Composites of Shellac and Silver Nanowires as Flexible, Biobased, and Corrosion‐Resistant Transparent Conductive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...
