Dual-time-scale simulation of dynamics and reconfiguration of fiber optical networks

2012 14th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2012
We describe an approach to simulate the power transients in complex (branched, ring, or mesh) transparent fiber optical networks. Simulations are performed at two time scales: first, the signal power dynamics in Erbium-doped fiber amplifiers is modeled at (sub-) millisecond scale using statistical signal descriptions.

Power Plant Systems Operational Scheduling Using a Dual-Time Scale

10th AIAA/ISSMO Multidisciplinary Analysis and Optimization Conference, 2004
One of the most challenging problems in the electric power generation business is balancing short term productivity with the optimal level of production over a long time period. In this paper a systematic approach to the modeling of gas turbine power plants for long term generation scheduling is introduced.

Dual Time Scales in a Wave Problem Governed by Coupled Nonlinear Equations

SIAM Review, 1981
The method of multiple time scales is used to obtain a uniformly valid perturbation solution for initial value problems (periodic or isolated initial disturbance) arising in shallow water motion or in compressible gas flow. The results are used to modify the original equations so as to lead to a particularly convenient problem formulation.

Symbolic precompilation of piecewise-linear behavioral models for efficient simulation of dual time scale systems

1993 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2002
Dual time scale systems such as /spl Delta/-/spl Sigma/ modulators, switching power converters, and phase-locked loops often take an excessive amount of computation time to simulate when using a circuit simulator and do not have sufficient accuracy when simulated with more efficient methods.

Dual-Time Scale Photoinduced Electron Transfer from PbS Quantum Dots to a Molecular Acceptor

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2012
A combination of picosecond and microsecond transient absorption dynamics reveals the involvement of two mechanisms by which 1,4-benzoquinone (BQ) induces the decay of the excited state of PbS quantum dots (QDs): (i) electron transfer to BQ molecules adsorbed to the surfaces of PbS QDs and (ii) collisionally gated electron transfer to freely diffusing ...

The rolling optimization strategy of CCHP system based on the electric-thermal dual time-scale

2019 Chinese Automation Congress (CAC), 2019
The combined cooling, heating and power (CCHP) system, as one of the important development direction of distributed energy, has a excellent application prospect and development significance. Furthermore, the CCHP system itself is a complicated system with many kinds of energies coupling.

Dual-time scale crystal plasticity FE model for cyclic deformation of Ti alloys

Journal of Computer-Aided Materials Design, 2007
A dual-time scale finite element model is developed in this paper for simulating cyclic deformation in a Titanium alloy Ti-6242. The material is characterized by crystal plasticity constitutive relations. Modeling cyclic deformation using conventional time integration algorithms in a single time scale can be prohibitive for crystal plasticity ...

Dual Time-Scale Control of Flexible Manipulator Based on Double-Power Sliding Mode and LQR

2020 39th Chinese Control Conference (CCC), 2020
Trajectory tracking and vibration suppression of flexible manipulators are addressed in this paper. A control method combining double-power sliding mode and linear quadratic regulation is proposed. Firstly, the hypothetical modal method is used to describe the vibration mode of the flexible manipulator, and then the Lagrange dynamic equation is used to

Two-layer structure predictive control of target tracking mode for dual time-scale system

2020 Chinese Automation Congress (CAC), 2020
In the dual time-scale system, the time for the fast and slow model to reach steady-state values is inconsistent. Based on the "point" model strategy of integral variables, this paper compares and analyzes the slow model variables with the integral variables and designs a two-layer structure predictive controller for the dual time-scale system under ...
