We present a novel photographic technique called dual photography, which exploits Helmholtz reciprocity to interchange the lights and cameras in a scene. With a video projector providing structured illumination, reciprocity permits us to generate pictures from the viewpoint of the projector, even though no camera was present at that location.

Genetic inheritance in higher organisms normally refers to the transmission of information from one generation to the next. Nevertheless, there is also inheritance in somatic cells, characterised by the phenotypic stability of differentiated cells that divide (such as fibroblasts and lymphocytes), and also mitosis of stem line cells, which gives rise ...

This paper presents some definitions and propositions concerning to dual fractals. Among them, dual-similarity plays a key-role not only in generating dual fractals but also in handling inter-pattern relations. Dual-similarity is basically defined as a pair of the similarity relations between two patterns, from which two mirror operators have been ...

Dual systems and dual attitudes
Mind & Society, 2012It can be argued that dual-system theorists should adopt an action-based view of System 2 (S2), on which S2 reasoning is an intentional activity. It can also be argued that they should adopt a dual-attitude theory, on which the two systems have distinct sets of propositional attitudes.

Dual Challenges – Dual Strengths
This chapter examines the intersection of neurodivergent identities and parenthood in higher education, highlighting the compounded challenges and strengths faced by neurodivergent parents. It highlights the liminal position of balancing academic responsibilities with parenting as a neurodivergent individual, advocating for more inclusive practices in ...openaire +1 more source
