Niccolo Tommaseo visited Dubrovnik while voyaging along the Croatian coast in the autumn of 1839. This paper is concerned with his experience of the idea of revival within the Illyrian movement that flourished in Dubrovnik, and Tommaseo's creative contacts with a number of distinguished Ragusans.
