Percutaneous transcatheter closure of a distorted residual patent ductus arteriosus post surgical ligation using retrograde wiring and femoral arterio-venous loop technique- a case report

open access: yesIHJ Cardiovascular Case Reports, 2018
: Small residual left-to-right shunts following surgical ligation of Patent Ductus Arteriosus [PDA] are not common. Percutaneous transcatheter closure of the PDAs, mostly with coils, is the treatment of choice.

Revision of Dadagulella gen. nov., the “Gulella radius group” (Gastropoda: Streptaxidae) of the eastern Afrotropics, including six new species and three new subspecies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The genus Dadagulella gen. nov. is described to include 16 species of small, dentate, ovateacuminate Afrotropical snails. An identification key is provided and biogeography, anatomy and systematics are discussed. The type species is the Kenyan D. radius (

Effect of biliopancreatic tree anatomy on development of acute gallstone pancreatitis

open access: yesBMC Gastroenterology
Background Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a complex disorder with gallstones being the most common underlying cause. Anatomical variations of gallbladder, cystic duct (CD), common bile duct and main pancreatic duct and their courses and interactions with ...

Cisto de colédoco em adulto: anomalia da junção do colédoco com o ducto pancreático submetido à ressecção do cisto e à derivação biliar e pancreática

open access: yesRevista do Colégio Brasileiro de Cirurgiões
Common bile duct cysts are rare congenital anomalies which have been diagnosed only in twenty per cent of adults. The etiology is uncertain, but many patients have an anomalous pancreatobiliary junction anatomy.

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Cholecystohepatic duct fistula (Mirizzi syndrome) in a child

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Surgery Case Reports, 2021
This child suffered three episodes of choledocholithiasis; but what makes her case so interesting is that the stones were passing through an anomalous communication from gallbladder to common hepatic duct.

Corrective treatment and anatomic considerations for laparoscopic cholecystectomy injuries [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
BACKGROUND: Complete reports of biliary and vascular injuries after laparoscopic cholecystectomy are rare. STUDY DESIGN: Fifteen patients with complex laparoscopic cholecystectomy injuries underwent corrective operations.
