Effect of biliopancreatic tree anatomy on development of acute gallstone pancreatitis

open access: yesBMC Gastroenterology
Background Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a complex disorder with gallstones being the most common underlying cause. Anatomical variations of gallbladder, cystic duct (CD), common bile duct and main pancreatic duct and their courses and interactions with ...

Cisto de colédoco em adulto: anomalia da junção do colédoco com o ducto pancreático submetido à ressecção do cisto e à derivação biliar e pancreática

open access: yesRevista do Colégio Brasileiro de Cirurgiões
Common bile duct cysts are rare congenital anomalies which have been diagnosed only in twenty per cent of adults. The etiology is uncertain, but many patients have an anomalous pancreatobiliary junction anatomy.

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...

Radiodiagnostic method for studying swimbladder inflammation caused by Anguillicola crassus (Nematoda:Dracunculoidea) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
The nematode Anguillicola crassus appeared in Europe about 15 yr ago, and has subsequently become recognised as a cause of major pathological lesions in the swimbladder of the European eel Anguilla anguilla. The radiographic method reported in this paper

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

Main right hepatic duct entering the cystic duct: a case report

open access: yesSurgical Case Reports, 2019
Background Risk factors for bile duct injury in laparoscopic cholecystectomy include severe inflammation at Calot’s triangle and aberrant bile duct variations.

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

The anatomy of Rouviere's sulcus as seen during laparoscopic cholecystectomy: A proposed classification

open access: yesJournal of Minimal Access Surgery, 2017
Introduction: Although Rouviere's sulcus is being increasingly mentioned as the first landmark to be seen so as to begin dissection during laparoscopic cholecystectomy to prevent bile duct injuries, the anatomy of the sulcus has not been described in ...

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Thyroglossal cyst our experience [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This study shares our experiences in managing patients with thyroglossal cysts. These are common midline tumors of neck. Characteristically these masses move on protrusion of tongue due to their intimate relationship with hyoid bone.
